    LOL, nice one centurion! :)

Since he started this escapade back in 1986 I suspect that he may well be
    due back any day now...

    ZK - still laughing

I once did Alton to Exeter and back on an RD200. Nowt special about
    that
but the return journey was without a right-hand footrest and the brake
pedal was bent 180 degrees back into the exhaust :eek:/

  5. It belonged to a complete maniac.
Mine is 99 C2 model worth about 2K max. Should be ~3K for a mint low miler.
I have owned it for over a year and I love it. I have not ridden any other
litre bikes so I cant comment on how it compares with R1s and Gixxers but
for what I do its perfect.

Mine is not standard, it has an Ohlins rear and an Akrapovic titanium full
system. I dont know what is was like stock, others will.
The suspension is a little stiff because it was set up for the previous
owner who ate more pies than me. I have no complaints it seems super smooth
and deals with rough surfaces and potholes as if they werent there.
The Akra makes it fluffy under 3K but from there to 8K it drives nicely,
above 8K it really goes. Apparently make 140bhp at the wheel.

I commuted every day till last summer which was about 7K miles ( total of
nearly 40K on it now) so I got to know it well. My first riding was from
October so I did a lot of miles on wet, salty and cold roads. When the 010s
are not worn out it is very secure and I mostly rode around at below 8K
where it is a complete pussycat.
Upping the pace when the roads dried out I found what was above 8K. Lots of
lovely power to make the scenery blur. I am not a Fast Boys Club member but
I like acceleration and corners where it turns in nicely and is pretty
stable. However, it does not like brakes while leant over, it pops upright
which was interesting the first time.

The finish has stood up OK to the salt and crap it has been subjected to.
Paint is lifting on the wheels, fork legs and swingarm. Previous owner never
washed it so the dirt was a protective barrier keeping it all together.

It is a nice big comfy sports tourer that can make for a relaxing ride if
you just ride it on the torque.
Or it is the devil on two wheels making you commit traffic offences when the
    mood is upon you.

As you may have guessed, I love the thing although the brakes, tyres and
head bearings (due to my numpty wheelie attempts) all need replacing now.

Walsall to Newquay, Cornwall on a DT 100 with a tent and rucksack when
    I was 17. Nearly f*cking killed me. I think I took a week to
    straighten out.

Spent the summer working in Newquay and *thankfully*[1] it was nicked.
I got the train back in Sept and spent the insurance on a *much*
    bigger XL185.

[1] Obviously I was tad peeved at the time but hindsight is a
    wonderful thing.

Better - it's got a fairing. Of course, it really depends on wjat you
prefer - the 9R puts some weight on your wrists (which, I find more
comfortable above town speeds), whereas the ZRX sits you up more,
which puts more weight on your arse and upi your spine.

  16. North London to Leicester on an XL125[1] on many occasions..
When I was a student. Complete with big bags
of clothes and other stuff bungeed to the back seat. And
with a Rickman topbox bolted/glued/strapped onto the luggage rack.

The most fun bit was stopping to put my (still gloved) hands on the
engine to get the feeling back onto my fingers.

What I actually want is a logical reason not to get one.

I've never found the 9R uncomfortable, but I don't really need more than
the ZRX offers from a bike. At the same time I think the 9R may be the
last ever "all rounder" in terms of a sportsbike, and I'd hate to miss
    out on that. IYSWIM.

it depends on what you mean by "all rounder" and what you mean by
    "sportsbike".

cf. VFR800, CBR1100X, GSX750-F etc. etc. etc. (and that's just
    currently available models)
