    I got my Gixxer back.

Final bill 524.76 quids so not as bad as I first thought. I have to
run it in for a few miles to let the new bearings bed in. I really
    missed that bike.

    Thank you Suzuki.

  3. That's quite cheap for a full engine rebuild IMHO.

Bargain, I'd say - was that all the labour, including VAT?

Nice one. So you can get up here for a ride out then ;o) We've had a play
with the settings of the R1 and its handling better now too.

my fucking 12000 mile service[1] on the 'blade cost 290.

[1] well, the service + puncture repair + fitting the OE rear
indicators + freeing up the seized end-can bolt + 2 x exhaust valve
    cables.

Then you can both post about your godlike riding abilities, greatly
amusing everyone else in the process.

Suzuki stumped up for 2/3 of it, IIRC.

It wasn't a full rebuild just crank, bearings, clutch etc. I got a
warranty labour rate, whatever that is?

How come I can never buy a box of sundries? You must be able to buy
    them cheap somewhere.

Yes. It probably didn't include the stripping down and inspection
since this was requested by Suzuki.

Sorry Ben, I used to like you but you're getting to be a bore.

A new crank and bearings sounds pretty much like a full engine rebuild
to me. The whole thing would have had to come apart.

They didn't strip the head, just the bottom end.

Or put another way, what they replaced was:

    Clutch plates
    Clutch basket
    Crank/Bearings
    Crank Pin
    Gasket
    Exhaust studs.

    What I paid for was:
    Oil/Filter
    Antifreeze.

Yeah, I guess you can turn the engine upside down, remove the bottom
crankcase and then undo the big end nuts, allowing you to drop the
crank out. I'd have thought you'd have to remove the camshafts from
the top end in order to get enough slack in the camchain, but maybe
just removing the tensioner would give enough movement.

Jesus christ, I _knew_ the oil price had gone up, but that's mad.

Or is there a world-wide shortage of antifreeze as well?

Nope, Austrians it was. All else aside, it'd have to be fucking awful
sweet stuff for people not to notice the additives anyway.
