Asthmatic trail bikes......

    I had the sad misfortune to wind up riding a demo KLX250 yesterday when my
    bike was in for a service (they gave me a CB1300 last time, but the battery
    was flat in it when they went to give it to me again, so I couldn't take
    it). My god......what a gutless slug of a machine! The poor thing felt
    like it was being strangled the whole time I was on it. It was a real
    struggle just to maintain 100kph on the short ride I took it on! It's no
    wonder I hear these things getting around with what sounds like no muffler
    at all on them.......be the only way they'd make enough power to be rideable
    in the long term!

    & your big tough CB1300 would be a slimy overweight whore getting the cows

    Yes, but you see vast numbers of trailies on the road, being ridden
    exclusively as roadies, complete with road tyres in some cases. You don't
    see many CB1300's being used exclusively as ag bikes. Are you as much of a
    wanker as *you* make out?

    Anyway, that wasn't my point. I was simply surprised at how choked the
    thing was in 'standard trim'. I'm sure with a less restrictive muffler/pipe
    combo it would breathe much easier.

    It could do 100, but it had nothing to give. Passing stuff was a 'plan very
    much ahead' affair. Every time I wound the throttle on, I could feel the
    thing struggling to breathe with the standard muffler on. As I said, I'm
    not at all surprised to see some of these things getting 'round the place
    with no innards in the muffler!

    Oh, and I'm 66kg soaking wet.....so no, I'm not immensely fat.

    that 22 years later the KLXs are slower... are you immensely fat?

    My friend...one look at you web site has explained whom the wanker is. You
    should ask a close friend their opinion of it.

    So to sum it up, you have discovered that 250 single trail bikes have no
    power after 100 kph ?

    depending on the condition of the bike.
    Air Filter condition etc etc,

    It's a demo & not all demo's are serviced kindly

    So, to sum it up.....I made the simple observation that the KLX250 I rode
    felt like it was choking to death on the standard muffler. I then made the
    simple observation that I now understand why many people appear to have
    removed the innards of said standard muffler in order to improve the
    performance. You, for some reason, responded to that observation with a
    completely pointless post, asserting the rather obvious fact that a large
    capacity road bike would not be serviceable as a farm bike (well duh!!),
    finishing off the post with a lame personal attack.

    *yawn*.......geez....is it the heat that brings all the keyboard warriors
    out at this time of year? The stench of testosterone is overpowering.......

    Its origins are 20 years old, the motor is very basic and reliable,
    basically a larger kids bike, ie next step up from KLX125,

    You should try a CB250, i was given to ride when i put the ZX12 in for a
    service, at least the KLX could take a short cut across the paddock !!
