Assen GP - Anyone Been?

I need to know if Assen is like Mugello, where the bikers take over the
town, stunting and generally having fun?

And if they do, any pointers to exactly where would be good?

I've been several times but always stay in Groningen (the nearest big
town) & I've never seen any stunting going on there. Shedloads of totty
though, thanks to the university.

John Bex, my fellow moderator on the MV list, runs a bike motel nearby.

If you can hang around a few days, the Groningen music festival starts
on the 27th. They stick up a couple of open air stages in the town
square, & have loads of free music & cheap beer all week.

I shared a flat with him, initially. They were "interesting" times :O)

He never wanted to talk about the trip back from Assen though.

 

He even said the Dutch Polis will run you off the road rather than chase a
speeding bike.
