I was laughing out loud at bits I repeated some lines out loud I noticed that their copy of Tennis Girl wasn't signed by Martin Elliott (like what mine is) But it doesn't have the fresh feel of the original. Despite firing up the Quattro
I missed it. Thankfully it seems to have made it to the bbc iplayer, so I'll watch it tomorrow lunchtime.
<anorak mode> Don't get me started on the Quattro.. Gene Hunt driving a RHD Quattro in July 1981 when they weren't made RHD until late '82. </am>
Apparently the producers are well aware of this fact, and DGAF. It's a TV fiction/drama show, in which one character appears to have travelled in time by some 27 years. If you can accept that, you can accept one fucking car being wrong.
I thought that the music was spot on for the era. There was even a lovely cameo of I'm In Love with A German Film Star by The Passions which was masquerading as soundtrack and not a song IYSWIM. All it needs IMO is lots and lots of The B-52's who were in their pomp at the time. Every right thinking UKRM deconstructed Male's role model without a doubt.
I was doing a similar thing about the Commodore tape deck on the shelf in the radio store room - they weren't that shape until '82

Me too. In '81, I house shared with two mates who were also motorcyclists. The only rows that we ever had was about what music to listen to (our tastes were completely different). Bizarrely, we only agreed on The B52's, JJ Cale and Lightnin' Hopkins - so that's what we spent most of our time listening to.
Checking the old 45s collection, I see from tonights show I have Gary Numan, the Clash, the Passions...and I'm not saying I wasn't a metal head as well! Anyway, I largely agree with this review: http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/tv_and_radio/article3328821.ece
