Another article warning of the perils and danger of Stone Mastic Asphalt
    (SMA)

I don't know if it's that I'm just becoming or perhaps already become a
grumpy old git, but reading this article, I find it difficult to find the
words to express fully my feelings of local and national goverment officials
who seem to be prepared to treat the citizens of the UK with such complete
    and utter contempt.

How many people will it take to be injured or die in RTA's (and the majority
will be motorcylists) before SMA is banned from use when resurfacing roads?

It's in use all over the country. Many LA's have simialr webpages to
    this one: http://www.rbwm.gov.uk/web/transport_resurfacing_faq_20137.htm

Some of the roads around here[1] were resurfaced with it last
summer/autumn, rather than using the traditional layer of wet tar &
    granite chips.

  4. Reading the Essex CC web site[1] appears I have.

They have used it specifically for it's noise reduction properties, near
schools, hospitals and on some roads that run through country villages.

[1] Eventually. It seems that they have developed a novel way to prevent
the public from finding out what is going on by putting all the
information on their web site and then making it fall over, fail to
connect, time out and when a good connection is obtained send data a bit
    at a time.

  6. Yes, of course but in a sense it is no bad thing. The solution appears
to get the front up before the SMA patch begins and just monowheel the
entire length of it until the danger has passed and cut out the
finishing flourish of a well executed stoppy.
