  1. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember (Steve
    Bullimore) saying something like:
    You crazy irresponsible ****.

    Keep it up.

  2. I knew a fellow racer would understand. How's the collarbone? Fit for the
    next KRC round?

    Collarbone is, er, odd.

It was going very well. I rode my gixxer 10 days ago (3 weeks after
the break) and it was fine. Then , last week, I started occassionally
getting a *very* sharp (but momentary) pain when I moved my arm
slightly (tho in a way that didn't hurt 99% of the time). And it
    started getting worse...

.... so I went back to thte fracture clinic yesterday. Got a new xray,
and the same laid back kiwi consultant examined me again. He squinted
at the xrays, and thought he could detect some new bone being
deposited. He prodded the break area - no pain. So he pronounced me
fit, and suggested I did away with the brace. I mentioned that I had
a bike race in 3 weeks and he said "Go for it - you'll be fine even if
    it's not fixed". Cool, eh?

He also told me that around 10% of clavicle breaks *never* mend, and
of those, only 10% give any problems. Which goes some way to
explaining how some racers race with recently broken collar bones.
Apparently some national hunt jockeys break them so often, they have
them removed! Obviously not one of the body's more important bones.

Anyway, I'll be riding at the KRC at Bishopscourt round on 29th May.

I don't know why, but that made me feel quite queasy.

  5. Yeah I got these sharp pains running through mine a few times when it was
healing and I still get the very occasional one now tbh.
Yeah thats cool. 6 weeks after the break should be plenty. I raced 2 weeks
after my break but admittedly two 10 lap races is a bit different to a whole
    endurance event. Respect.
    Saves a bit of weight.
Have a good 'en. After all the cock ups with trying myself to get a KRC ride
this year I was eventually asked to join Mark Hill's team - only that was 1
week before Oulton so I couldnt do it. Anyway, it looks like its out the
question for this year now due to the family - famin' kids!

Doesn't one look a tad odd, without a collar bone?

Mind, most jockeys look fairly odd to start with, so I suppose it's a
    bit of a moot point.

Cheers. Bishopscourt is pretty bumpy, so it's not ideal. But I'll
see how I go in practise, and if necessary we'll re-arrange the stints
    accordingly.
Have you worked out what's causing them yet?

You'd look even odder without a tie bone.

    Tch.

I've recently been helping out my folks after my mum had the end of
her collarbone sawn off. Doing the dressing on the hole in her
shoulder, that's something that makes *me* feel queasy.
