Dunno where you live, but around London its not uncommon to see some middle
age gimmer squeezed into his 1-piece leathers with the tank of an <insert
litre bike here> supporting his gut :)

    Waffle.

There are some lifestyles that I wouldn't want to disappear. But I
couldn't give a **** if MAG-type grebos started washing and shaving
and wearing colours other than black. It doesn't matter a toss.
No, not that simple. To use your examples: I don't think that chavs
"act like cunts", they just are lowbrow, and love it. Football
hooliganism is amazingly rare. I've only ever seen two acts of
violence in 20 years of going to football, and God knows how many
games. How much "cuntish" behaviour have you seen at, say, the NEC,
where there are loads of bikers in one place?
No. A rule doesn't have exceptions.

I don't actually recall any at the NEC, but I've seen plenty at the
Bassetts Pole meet - mostly from the motorcycling equivalent of "XR2i
    yoof".

Is that "cuntish" or is it "ill-advised", "silly" or "stupid" - none
    of which necessarily equal cuntish.

Well I got a response from my letter :

    Thank you for your email.

As you can imagine MAG is totally shocked by this article and the attack on
    MAG.

The article is full of mis-quotes and taken out of context.

There was also an other article which is not in all editions of the
Independent by a Tim Luckhurst which again is in the same vain.

The paragraph you mentioned is followed by this

"MAG believes that riders are encouraged to believe this will give good
protection in an accident giving a sense of invulnerability perhaps the
attitude should be to ride as though you were naked.

Police and the Fire brigade in Yorkshire recently set up a stunt by dropping
melons from a height thus demonstrating the vulnerability of the human body
    in an accident.

MAG believes that "the nub of the problem" lies with the attitude of those
who treat the public highway like a race track. The problem is a cultural
one rather than one resulting simply with the potential of modern machines.

MAG notes that Devon County Council in their campaign "In the Blind Spot"
has employed the services of a psychiatrist to study behavioural attitudes
    of riders.

It should be stressed to the authorities that any measures should be
carefully aimed at the problem riders and should minimise interfering with
the majority of riders, who are responsible law abiding citizens.

Blanket actions against all riders simply exacerbate the sense of injustice
of which the real problem riders falsely consider themselves the innocent
    victims.

There is sense of over confidence among some riders that is illustrated by
the phrase "everyone knows that the most vulnerable riders are those who
ride faster than me." (Motor Cycle News)

MAG considers that motorcycling must be embraced as a normal legitimate
transport option, with greater encouragement of the legitimate use of
    motorcycles for work and commuting."

It is contained in the full document at

You wrote to MAG? I thought you were writing to the Independent.
Replace "MAG" with "The Police" and the sentence is perfectly
credible. This surely demonstrates what narrow-minded, cretinous
morons MAG really are. Talk about weak minds.
What, MAG wants to encourage people who don't live the "biker
lifestyle" to ride bikes? Isn't that in contradiction with what their
    spokesperson already said?
    First paragraph:

"The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) recognises that the level of
accidents involving motorcycles is unacceptly high. "

Hmm. These people are impressive. Not.

I really wish MAG would disband. They're pointless.

Y'see, what we have hear is a classic example of atrophy.
MAG in it's younger days was a fairly useless mildly amusing,
    anti-establishment sideshow type of gig.
These days, as more of their (for want of a better word) 'leaders'
mature, get their IAM badges and generally begin to believe that
the status quo is more than just a band. They've matured nicely
into damaging and worse than useless establishment mouthpiece.

  14. an attitude that the road is simply an extension of the race track

Fucking right. Going to work this morning, I kinda fucked up turns 12
and 27 through getting the trees muddled up that were my braking
    markers.

Then, on the 3rd chicane (roundabout) my entry was completed fucked up
by a fellow competitor in a Maestro Club approaching it 50mph slower
than me. I mean, for fucks sake, he couldnt have braked earlier if
he'd started when he left home.

So by now my average race speed was well down so my only chance of a
win was to get the 2nd half of the 'lap' fucking bang on the money. I
managed to work my way through most of the field up the motorway and
took 3 round the outside on the slip road. Win or bin.

In the closing stages I made several out-braking passes up the inside
of a few black cabs, GT550s, Blades and shite old Nissans to get
within reach of the lead. Then, on one of the blind 90 degree lefts
I'm apexing getting on the gas when there's a stationary queue of cars
and nowhere to go. uuuhh!! Where were the yellow flags. Where were the
    corner marshalls? .... SLAM.

    ****. A DNF.
