So having had a chat with a nice friendly policeman at the side of the
M50 I now need a new number plate and at least the appearance of a
    legal exhaust.

Someone muttered about BS plates being available for Art exhausts -
who are you and where can I get one from?

Ebay - around 5 to 10 quid each, I am not sure how the Police or Mr MOT will
    view them though.

Bit silly going on the M50 on the day that 70,000 Northerners decide to
    come to Cardiff.

Come on then. Why did he pull you over? Did you get anything else becides a
    "chat"?

I've got one here, bought but never used because the SP is racing at
    the TT instead.

    Email me.

My local MOT station that normally doesn't care less what exhaust you
have on for a pass was very strict recently.

But they did say that they would pass the bike with the exhaust on as
long as it had a BS mark on it, even if it was just stuck on.

Which is odd to me, cos that's considered deception and carries a
    heavier penalty?

Mate of mine (John, who came to EOSM last year) has a factory contact
and can get the properly stamped mounting bracket. Gave one to Blaney,
    IIRC.

Email me (to addy in sig) and I'll pass your details on.

A stern look and a rectification notice, and a producer. I've got a
second hand (scratched to ****) end can and new number plate today. So I
can get the VRN stamped. I've found all the documents, except the tax
disk, which I appear to have lost.

A fun journey, it wasn't. Having clocked him sat in the garage I decided
to proceed with caution, rather than pulling in the pub car park and
hiding behind the tree (which would have been a far better idea). After
a good 5 minutes of 80 indicated, I saw him in my mirror, just coming
round the corner. Backed off to indicated 70 and held it.

He sat behind me for *fucking ages*, though the temp 50 limit and
directed me off at the next exit. Disapproving noises about the plate,
then noticed the BFO "Not For Road Use" sign on the can. Then checked
the read tyre, Thankfully the puncture on Saturday meant that I had a
    new
tyre not an illegal one. Then he noticed the lack of a tax disk.

Paperwork completed and off along the M50 once more, making a little
progress, not going very fast, certainly not much over a ton. On to the
M5, and head into the services for a well deserved coffee. As I slow in
to the services, who do I see rapidly coming up behind me? Yes, the
bloke that just pulled me. ****, quick thinking, just how fast had I
been going then? Not fast enough to warrant being pulled again,
thankfully. So I pulled in to the services car park, which was full of
    plod.

So after a coffee and a smoke, onwards with the journey, on the M42
making progress at an indicated 90/100 and I clock a silver car behind
me which doesn't look quite right. As it gets closer I see why, it's a
    fully marked up area Volvo.
Ok, so finish passing this car, and get in centre lane. Now he is going
more slowly. Ok, get in left lane. He goes past, and moves to left lane.
    And slows.

Hum, coming up towards a motorway junction. So if he doesn't get off
here, than I will. He does. So I slow, lots, under the rbout, so that if
he comes back on, he'll be in front.

Thankfully he didn't reappear. By this point I have decided that enough
is enough, and spend the rest of the journey at legal speeds, well
almost the rest of the journey. Well, some of it.

So now I have a legal end can and number plate. I'm going to get the
rivet on collar with the BS stamp, then the old can may or may not go
back on. The standard can gives *much* nicer KSB's. Especially in
    tunnels.

Ta, I'm going to have the one from Lesley, as long as it's the same
size. If not I'll send you a mail.

The latter. More sharp-edged than the item you would expect on a can,
but would blend soon enough once fitted and scruffed and cleaned a few
times. Would easily pass a visual exam - I bloody hope.

...........possibly at a testing station but if pulled by plod for a noisy
exhaust and they saw the plate suspicions would be aroused and you may find
yourself up for something along the lines of perverting the course of
    justice.
