Am I missing something here? Why do you want to phone the court up if you
don't get it (unless you're worried it's been sent and not received). Why
not just wait until it arrives.

Dunno how it works, but is Adie classed as a permanent resident or
something like that. If not, I'd imagine it's a no-go.

she doesn't live at the address they will have sent the summons to, in
fact, she's now living in a non-EU country.

  4. I'm not even classed as a secondment here, its an extended business
trip so I doubt I'd get a license.

understanding swiss bureaucracy i'd probably have been home six months
    before it turned up.

  5. and the fact I've transferred my mail to here which judging by the
time its taken for stuff to arrive I'd likely to have been found
    guilty before it turns up.

Nope I investigated this when booked on the M74 for 128, reckless and racing
on the public. I was told that an arrest warrant would be issued and filed.
It would turn up the first time I was PNC'd in the future.

Worked fine for the Scottish Poll Tax cunts mind.

    No, it doesn't.

No mention was made of "custodial sentence" until you stuck your oar
    in.

No you didn't, you said "Scotland doesn't have custodial sentences for
debt." - which isn't the same thing at all.

In which case, Adie's alright, cos there's no custodial sentence for
    speeding, either.
On the contrary, I couldn't understand why you'd posted it.

It was obtuse, I clearly implied that leaving the UK had avoided poll tax
payments and not an arrest warrant.

    <looks up>
Ah yes, Due Care. Not *quite* so bad. Doesn't carry a custodial sentence
option IIRC? Dangerous only incurs it for repeat/exceptional offenders
    anyway.
I think that the court can/will still issue arrest warrants for failure to
    attend though.

Complicated and one for JP. I was just told there was no way out using this
route and I can't remember the details of why.

Would it be feasible ? Switzerland isn't in the EU. Wouldn't there be
    'equivalence' problems ?[/QUOTE]

Nope. No problem whatsoever. However, as Adie probably points out down
    there \/ she doesn't have a resident's permit, so wouldn't be
eligible. Plus she'd have to change it back again when she goes home,
whereon the conviction would prolly raise its ugly head.

Actually, _if_ you had an AuslanderAussweis (residency permit) it
would take about half an hour, over the counter, like.
