The Notrun (850 Commando) has wet-sumped *again*. Ho-hum, time to get the spanners out. Anyone know what the likeliest cause is? I'm assuming there are one or more non-return valves and one of them is fucked. Time for a rummage through the workshop manual, I fear. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - "He's hopeless, but he's honest" I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Wicked Uncle Nigel wrote: Wotcha. Not up to speed on Nortons - now if it were a pre-unit BSA . . . . Here's an idea. Those nice people in the Matchless and AJS owners club [1] make a nice little tap which fits in your oil feed line. Now I know what you're thinking. "What happens if I forget to turn the oil on ?" This is the clever bit - the tap has an electrical switch incorporated - no oil feed = no ignition feed. [1] As far as I know, it's the owners club who have 'em made - or so the guy who had a bike fitted with one told me.
Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, YTC#1 OK, *apart* from roads, drains and a reliable water supply, what have the Romans ever done for us? -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - "He's hopeless, but he's honest" I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. OIl pump. Or rather, slight wear in the oil pump, which allows the oil to flow the wrong way when the engine is stopped. Easy, and quick fix is to fit a tap on the flow pipe (if possible), though it isnt really practical, as you need to remember to turn it on every time you start up. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, A.Lee Interesting stuff, thanks. I should probably settle for the "run the fucking thing more often" gambit. The good news is that putting it on the workbench has got me to explore the slipping clutch issue more fully. A chat with Norvil tomorrow, I think. -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - "He's hopeless, but he's honest" I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate change that I can make: I have decided not to breed. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, ^..^ Lone Wolf Hmm... That's actually not a bad idea at all. I shall investigate, thanks! -- Wicked Uncle Nigel - "He's hopeless, but he's honest" I have already made the greatest contribution to the fight against climate change that I can make: I have decided not to breed.
