  1. The Russians used diapers. You can buy a lot of pampers for
$30million. Like a few weeks worth!

If a particular church refuses to sanction this, so be it but the
government shouldn't discriminate against people doing something legal
    in all other respects.

Because Marriage is between a man and a women. It has been this way
for what centuries? I know a guy that likes gorillas but, they can't
reproduce either. Should they be allowed to get married as well? Is
that guy that likes Gorillas normal? How about a guy that likes ten
year old girls. Can he get married? Heck they may be able to
reproduce as well. Why not right? Lets make it a free for all. These
are just examples of abnormal promiscuous sexual behavior. Marriage is
a foundation for family. You meet your mate, get married, have kids,
pass down good morals and such and hopfully your kids will do the
same. Makes for a solid foundation for our society as a whole. Keeps
the jail population down as well.

There was an attempt made to topple him, a group of the super-rich
picked out a figurehead leader, and hoped to capitalize on the
discontent of the unemployed to make their proposed coup d'etat work.
Luckily for our parents generation (and by extension, ourselves) the
ex marine general they'd picked as a leader told them where to put
their grand plan. Thus ratted out, they had to regroup and try again.
By the time they had their plans well under way, it was clear that FDR
had the necessary popular support and WWII was on the way, so they
didn't need to get rid of him to maintain their own comfort levels.

Considering how the Yogoslavs and Russians treated the German invader
occupiers during WWII, and how most nations treat their own quislings,
I'd have to say that it doesn't appear to me that the Iraqi resistance
are doing anything much out of the ordinary, under the circumstances.

So you can delete the "Wow" at the end of your post. It might also be
improved if you deleted some of the US administration propoganda and
    replaced it with facts.

I approve strongly of his stem-cell research initiative. Other than
that, I haven't seen anything from him that I wouldn't expect from any
other governor, except for the rollback of auto registration fees, of
which I disapproved, given the state of the state's finances.

I sure wish he'd get behind some of those other issues, though.

  12. "Marriage is between a man and a woman because marriage is between a man
and a woman" is circular reasoning.
    Gorillas can't give informed consent.
10-year old girls can't give informed consent.

That's a good point. Sometimes I forget how relatively recent the
womens' rights movement is. We still have some of the "old guard"
    around.

I had a discussion with one of these types a little while ago
about this very subject. I forget the actual phrasing used, but
he said it was his place to be in control and he had the final
say in everything in his house. He had to maintain dominance,
tempered with "husbandly love". When I heard this - and determined
that he was serious - I was at a bit of a loss for words.
Too bad. I'd convert in a second. I could use a couple of nubile
servant girls around the house. < rubs hands together, laughs
    lecherously >
Well, as an atheist, I'd say that "needs" is an awfully strong word.

    :)

  17. And, likewise, if the church does sanction it, so be it, but the
government shouldn't change its laws just because the church says it
    should.

I thought that was what liberal activists always wanted! ;)

  18. You would expect that from the leaders we handed power over too but this
border protection request comes from Iraqi citizens themselves... who see
the vote as their only hope... today a top Shiite Cleric Grand Ayatollah
Ali al-Sistani urged his followers to vote... things are looking up...
