Are there petrol stations near Ripon?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Richard Sterry, Jul 13, 2004.

  1. The lovely town, nay city, of Ripon in North Yorkshire seems to be a petrol
station free zone. There used to be one near the centre, though it never
seemed to be open when I was passing through, but now there's a big hole in
the ground where it used to be. (Maybe someone struck a match when they
shouldn't.) I had a quick zap round the place and the surrounding main roads
this afternoon, but at no time did a petrol station mar my view of the
    scenery.

Is it me, or are there no petrol stations in that immediate area? If there
are, please tell me where they are! I could do with knowing on account of
organising a m/c run which ends in Ripon, and I just know that some of the
buggers will be running on empty.

    Bye

According to AA Petrol Busters, Morrisons is there - but it's a little out
    of town:

you need to register to use that site - Morrisons and an Esso are on the
A61 south of Ripon at Quarry Moor

There's one where the bypass (A61) meets the road south out of Ripon.
IIRC it's an Esso, which is why we don't use it.

  5. Ah yes, I did see that the Morrisons in town (which did not have a petrol
station) had closed, presumably in favour of a new site out of the centre.

    Good site.

    Ta for that.

  6. Registration is free, so I may use it in future. The A61 south is one route
I didn't have time to check out, so ta very much.

I'm leading a group run next Saturday, and no doubt some plonker (there's
always at least one) won't have filled up when they should and will be
struggling for fuel by the time we get to the finish at Ripon.

Just off the bypass roundabout on the South side towards Harrogate. large
Esso (I think its Esso) with a MacDonalds attached. It's huge & you can't
    miss it.

How many do you want? There's two just off the A61 (south) roundabout
-Esso on the left -Morrisons take the right turn at lights 150yds off
the roundabout and BP in town, just north of the centre beside the
Police station before the clock tower (and the Masham road out of
    town)

If your coming in thru Boroughbridge small station on the roundabout
on the canal on the Northside and Morrisons again at the supermarket
on the south edge of town.
