Are soldiers murderers?

    One person's myth is another persons's absolute truth. Christians, I
    would argue, would need to treat the ten commandments as God's laws.
    Ergo, laws which supercede federal and state laws. God is great, no?

    Why are you talking to me?

    Not getting enough attention elsewhere?

    Unless the victim has been murdered, then they might not have been
    killed.

    cruise-controls?

    To make this line of logical reasoning even more interesting you need
    to look up murder statistics in Oz. When a person is charged with
    murder and found guilty then the victim is counted in our statistics
    as having been murdered. Despite the minor fact that some of those
    murdered people survived and are living amongst us today. :)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Is that true?!!? Are there actual instances of people being convicted of
    murder where the "victim" is known to be still alive?
    The only one I can think of is that Rockhampton girl who hid in the wardrobe
    but that trial was stopped before a verdict.
    Yep. That's why the commandment is "thou shalt not kill" instead of
    "murder"; they don't want you doing it even IF you can get away with it!!
    Don't need to wait on Geoff, it does seem like the ten commandments can
    be interpreted in various ways at various times. :-|
    You can... *after they've been convicted*.
    Before that the person is an alleged murderer.
    You can say it... but nobody knows if they have or they haven't, so if
    you say it then you are guessing (and possibly committing slander),
    which is why news organizations are careful to add the word alleged.
    Killing isn't always unlawful, it depends upon what it is done for (even
    back in ancient times).
    Nah, I'm not quite that religious :)
    And the flip side of this I assume is that if they are found innocent
    then they are not counted in the murder statistics?
  16. ">>> How do you define murder?
    I'm still not sure how you define murder but if you define it as unlawful
    killing we'll have to wait for a court to determine if it was unlawful or
    justifiable
    Which is where this all started
    In your original response to me pasted below you don't provide any
    definition of murder.
    "If someone murders another, that person is a murderer. Why would they
    For your argument to have any credibility you must provide a rational
    definition of murder that does not require a court decision. Murder defined
    as unlawful killing requires a court to determine that it was indeed
    unlawful.
    I don't know. I did some research on the subject about five or more
    years ago and was surprised at the number of murders in Oz. digging
    down into the stats it turned out that a significant number, I think
    some 10%, had never died. Makes it difficult to compare murder stats
    in different countries.
    As in, you follow these commandments voluntarily or you go to hell?
    An interesting nuance of voluntary, if you believe that stuff.
    Which of the 10 commandments, if followed would cause a Federal or State law
    to be broken?
    Didn't Jesus supercede the 10 commandments with just 2?
