I've got a Shoei RX-R and I think the visor clip area is utterly crap.
Took me ages to get the alignment right and then it kept loosening off.
Eventually used "way too much" torque to tighten it up on the premise
that the plastic screws would sheer if overdone. Mind you it's stayed
put for about a year and half until two minutes ago when I popped
everything off to check my facts aaauuuughh !!! [1]

[1] Cheapest lid that felt comfortable, maybe the more expensive lids
    have better fittings.

Shoei Z1 here, the visor just clicks off and clicks back on. I can't see
anything that needs aligning so it must be a different fitting.

    Donald says...
If you've still got an RXR then it's time to replace it, they stopped
making them a few years ago when they brought out the Raid.

I can live with it, £150 difference in price, equates to at least 15
bottles of pretty nice wine or about 75 pints of beer at the local
    Wetherspoons.

I have to use a 2 pence piece to unscrew a large headed bolt to unclip
the cover then the visor does unclip from the fitting. What happened was
the fitting slipped. There is a small bolt holding the fitting in place
which kept loosening off causing a bad fit on the seal between the
    helmet and visor.

I think I'm going to have to give up using yahoo as a search engine.
these damn portals really screw up the search, "shoei Z1" came up with
about 10 nonsense portals. At least the top result had an image and an
    approximate price.

It's only just a little bit wiffy (next time I might get a removable
inner) and the kids have only dropped it about seventy million times,
and it's got a sticker on it that say's release date Sep 01 1999.

Anyway I'm not allowed near bike shops for at least another 18 months
after coming back with the CBR600RR3 last time.

Nah, that's "a triumph of development over design", that is.
