Anyone know of a glue that might be compatible with the outside of an
Arai helmet (an RX-7RR4) ? A little piece of plastic which covers a vent
on the top of mine has come off. The old glue seems to have perished -
it was some kind of sticky rubbery substance, and I've no idea what it
    could be.

  2. Why not take it back to the shop you bought it from and ask their advice. I
took my arai back to Rivetts in Leytonstone because the rubber nosepiece had
perished. I realise it was probably down to me squashing it when I carried
the helmet but the shop didn't query it at all and replaced it on the spot.
I bought the helmet in Sept 02 and the helmet was over two years old when I
took it back - poss 2.5 years.

Point is that I suppose helmets have an expected lifetime of around 5 years
and it is reasonable to expect that the glue will not perish within that
    time.

I suppose they may have to send it off to arai to get it done though so not
much use unless you have a spare.

Incidentially Arai will test any of their helmets free of charge for safety
at any age. Just take it into a dealer and they will send it off - Again
you need a spare lid - which I haven't got!!

It's about four years since I bought it, but more importantly, I bought it
directly from an importer rather than a retailer - it was about 100 pounds
cheaper, but the downside is there is no question of customer service.

IME you do get what you pay for when it comes to after sales service
    with Arai.

Take it to your local dealer that sell Arai. Arai reps have full
service kits with them so just find out when he's next in the shop and
take the lid along. They'll most likely do it for free.

  6. As long as the number on the back is still legible. Oh, and the top vent
    jobbie has self adhesive backing.
