Once again, form is victorious over function, and an abomination is
spawned. Things only have to work.

JB Racing claim that the Quill T3 is custom made to suit the bike it's
bought for; I'm assuming this goes further than just the fittings -
could I be wrong? I know little of such things.

I've seen loads of episodes but never managed to watch any consecutively
apart from on the American Chopper 'day' from a few weeks back
    Ahh. Good tip.

    DR says...
Pip might be wrong on this one. JB do claim the internals are designed
to suit the particular bike it's made for.

I wouldn't be surprised if they say that.

I was using your can *as an example*, as I stated above.

The requirement in question is legality, the benchmark the presence
(or absence) of a stamp of a certifying body. Whether it suits the
bike or not is irrelevant in this context. Capiche?

Not necessarily. You are referring to Suzuki's OEM cans. I'd still
slap one on to satisfy a VDR notice and I suspect your average MOT
inspector would take one look and stamp the sheet - whether it states
it is suited to that particular model or not is pretty much irrelevant
until you get out on the road and find the flat spot. Probably.
JHTKeerist. He *has* TWO fucking cans on the bike already. OK,
they're missing about four inches in length, but are the items that Mr
Honda provided. The sleeves from the originals are still here and
    still bear the stamps. QEfuckingD.

You were present here when this was being done, weren't you?

    Oh, ok!

You might have noticed I used the simple 'might' get out back there.

The other day I saw an old fellow cycle past in a yellow cape and
so'wester. I had to quickly check I hadn't been transported back in time.

I was rather hoping I had, so I could afford to buy a Vincent. Foiled
    again.

    I think you're talking rot.

Other than the stylised tank - which in its size has practical function -
where does that bike depart from functional design?

I can't put my finger on it, but the thing as a whole is ugly, in an
insectoid way. It's already been established on numerous occasions I
have no appreciation of aesthetics, but I still find the whole bike
    repulsive.

Yes, I was. WC is talking about cutting the cans off though, which will
make it louder and more pull worthy by the police. So, he'll have
nothing worth riveting a plate to, and it'll still be as loud as hell.
I guess he could stuff wire wool down the openings if he does get
    stopped for it.

  14. The cans are empty, that why I think it won't be any louse though ICBW.
The bit in the middle of the pip itself and the can may have another
baffle in it but it would be a costly mistake if it hasn't.

It's only the thought of a pull and the way they are at the moment
(sounding nice) that's giving me any doubts.

I just looked back at his dodgy diagram. I'd assumed (duh) that he
intended cutting out the "middle fat bit" between pipe and can, but
now it is obvious that he's looking at lopping the cans off entirely.

I feel that full-on loppage would be a mistake. If baffles are
present in the 'fatter' section between can and pipe they won't take
enough energy out to be effective in silencing the exhaust at all and
even with plates riveted on to them, will not be convincing.

    IMHO.

I like Aprilia, but that is about the best that the 6.5 will look. The
dealer I used to get my RS125 serviced at had a few of them knocking
around - I think they used them for DAS bikes. Their site hasn't been
updated in about 4 years though, so I don't know if they're still
there. Would be worth a ring - best dealership I've ever used.

Can you enter your bike into the UK version of "Pimp my ride"[1]? I'd
love to see the smug grin wiped off Westwood's face when you turn up on
    it.

[1] apparently there's to be one, and Tim's going to host it.
