    Hiya,

I've got an old Elora socket set here which I'm not using. It's pretty
old (made in West Germany) but the sockets seem in reasonable shape.

    The case says 'Set LCM'

    Two pics as follows:

    http://www.secondarie.eclipse.co.uk/elora/

    Two problems:

    1. the ratchet handle direction selector switch is fucked - snapped
off, so the entire ratchet handle is basically useless.

    2. No 12mm socket, two 13mm sockets instead.

Contains sockets marked (I know very little about this so I'm just
    going to copy directly)

    10mm to 32mm

    7/16 AF to 1 1/4 AF

    1/8 W 3/16 BS to 3/4 W 7/8 BS

Plus the rest of the stuff in the picture, i.e. an extension,
universal joint, breaker-bar style thing, etc etc etc and a big heavy
    metal case.

Looking ideally for a valuation so I can shove it on ebay, or maybe a
buyer if someone wants the thing. It's in London, Balham.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    H

  2. An old socket set with a useless handle/ratchet? A tenner. If that.

You'd be better off flogging some of the socket heads individually.
Nobody's going to buy a zillion old socket heads when they simply want
    (for example) a 15mm head.

I could do with some new 12mm ring spanners, all my old favourite ones
    appear to have left home.

sadly no. I am short an eighth inch ratchet as well, mine sort of does
and doesn't ratchet any more and is inclined to fall to bits when it
    does.

Actually I would like a nice complete 1/8 socket set as it goes and it
is me birthday in about not that far along. I might remind the kids I
am still alive. One of the little fuckers can afford a Halfords Pro set
and it is the least they can fucking do.

Not a great deal as is. Is it 1/2" drive? Bit big for most modern
motorcycles - alright for elderly Euro stuff.

It's also secondhand: the commonly used sizes wear and become rounded.
Of course these are the ones that will sell on ebay if they weren't worn.

Elora are good and usable but not up there with Facom and Snap-On.

You may get more listing each socket and bar individually but then
there's the listing fees and hassle to be taken account of.

I'll offer £15 for the lot. TBH I'm only really interested in the small
breaker bar and the larger metric sockets.
