to anybody on the M1 northbound on Saturday and southbound on Sunday.
Went for a quick trip to Leeds to see some old friends and decided to
forgo the scenic route. Now the Transalp is by no means a fast bike
maxing out at approx. 100 mph, but keeping it there almost the entire
time from Northampton to the M621 exit in Leeds was great fun. However,
I found my previous assertion, that the Brits are shite at keeping lane
discipline, again confirmed. Why is it that the middle and the far lane
are jam acked and the inside lane is almost empty, with a few cars far
    appart?

Because there is a curse on the inside line, plus anyone who uses the
inside lane must be a wimp.

Or it could be down to the fact that the standard of training in this
country to achieve a licence isn't good enough.

    Perhaps.

Oh come one, you can't fluff me off with such a sensible answer.

Paging AndrewR, could you please write a comprehensive explanation why
    the inside lane is taboo?

    Two answers

    a) Trucks, people know they are going to catch them and so think "sod it,
I'll just stay here to save my indicator bulb" [1]

    B) Fuckwits

Was on M60 before, sat behind plod doing an indicated 75. He sat in
outside line while I kept popping into middle lane [2]. Kept me amused anyway
    :)

    [1] Those that use indicators
[2] The inside was full of cars and trucks dancing the junction dance of
    death over the Barton bridge

    Cos they are cunts.

If the traffic is such that the best I can achieve without being silly
beyond belief is around or below the NSL then I usually take to the ugly
peoples lane. Effectively you can filter 10-15mph faster than the flow
without actually filtering but by changing lanes in an appropriate
manner and I do note that in general the middle lane/s are the fastest
bit of the flow, were I in a cage that is where I would be.

Also, people tend to queue very close in lane 2+, so if you do pull
over to lane 1 as you should, then the cage behind will simply drive
up the the bumper of the cage in front and you get boxed in behind the
    next truck.
