means that he is a good guy... perhaps a bit of a hooligan, but still, a
good guy. ;-)

There isn't much chance of that.

Firstly, getting a group of motorcyclists together for any purpose, even
just a lunch at a pub, is damned near impossible, so precipitating an
uprising just ain't going to happen.

Secondly, we of aus.moto, understand that, when the mood takes you, you
can work very hard at being an aggravating troll, but we know that there
is nothing we can do to actually stop you when the mood takes you.

much at all. Re Gerry's name calling, well, I just ignore it.

(You will note that my previous post was just to Ausmoto. Gerry

The only Triumph I have is in my dreams. I had motorcycles for most
of my life. In the 70s I had a Triumph 650, which was always a
bastard to start, not helped by being kick start only. My wife had a
wonderful BMW.

propaganda crap popping up in OT posts which I would sometimes
contradict politely, and mildly. No ad hominem anywhere.

The first I heard of a "no politics" rule was in a thread (which was
not aimed at me) headed:- "OT: does anyone care about this?"

And therein, responding to Dudley, I made this comment about his "no
politics" suggestion:

"In _this_ newsgroup, I can respect that (because it's worth it.) In
others, I have been known to be what you might call 'the worst
offender'. I will apply the caveat 'as long as all others do too'
though. If this "rule" is not applied (and policed) to _everyone_
without favour, (i.e. if some stuff is deemed ok but it's opposite
isn't), then I won't be feeling bound by any 'rules' at all. "

You might be amused to learn that Doug responded to my comment by
saying: "No deal! politics, politics, politics! LOL "

You might also be amused to learn that it was in this thread that
Dallas issued me with a veiled threat in response to my caveat:

So... Thus far we're seven months into my time in AGMSFS and still no
trouble, only Dallas's veiled threat.

Until we get a bit further along in that same thread where Bob, Copter
Six (surprise, surprise) changes the pace and introduces ad hominem
in his reply to Dallas' threat:

In the same message he/she says he/she will follow the rules (His/her

Back to "no politics".

It was not working. Politics (mostly not initiated by me) kept
popping up with monotonous regualrity. It was dealt with without any
ad hominem or aggro. Life was peacful in AGMSFS.

All except Bob, who kept calling me a troll and a bozo (I was not
returning the ad homimen yet - @ October 2009) And why was I a
"troll" and a "bozo"? Because I dared to make comments critical of US
foreign policy and/or globalised capitalism.

Soon ManhattanMan joined in the verbal abuse. I warned them that if
they did not stop the abuse I would retailate in kind. But they were
on a roll and being egged on by three or four other "patriots". It
was "on". It was "Get Walt" time. Sheriff Dallas and his posse were
on the move.

From there onwards it degenerated into flame wars that would erupt
from time to time. Generally, as a result of comments I made in
response to political stuff others had raised. In a flame war, all
combatants are equally responsible, but I was the only one they ever
blamed. The flame war was always my fault. I was apparently making
them do it. I was "destroying _their_ (???) newsgroup." (Now, where
have we heard that sort of rhetoric before, eh?)

More of Doug's distortions (lies?). My references to mass murder were
clearly within the context of the stupid, unneccesary, unjust wars
"engineered" by the US. I happen to think that wars _are_ mass
murder. So shoot me.

More of Doug's sophisty. The newsgroup is an INTERNATIONAL newsgroup.
Yes, it is dominated by a few Yank "patriots", but that's what's
_wrong_ with it. It should _not_ be dominated by a small pack of Good
Ol Boys.

A Vietnamese flight simmer who might have flown Migs in defence of
Hanoi, or a Russian flight simmer who flew parallel o CopterSix in the
cold war, should not have to read the boring and quite spurious US
propaganda crap about those wars (or any other US propaganda crap) in
an international newsgroup dedicated to flight simming.

The _domination_ by a small group of American Good Ol' Boys of the
newsgroup is what prevents AGMSFS from being truly international and
neutral. Actually it's a quaint microcosm of the world and the way a
small number of powerful Americans run roughshod over it.

By "it" I take it he means my input. Well, that is just more
Doug-rubbish. The newsgroup is generally calm, devoted to simming and
ticking over nicely without any disruptions from me.

OCCASIONALLY some flame war breaks out, more often than not as a
result of stupid things said, which the usual suspects then escalate
into a flame war and then try to blame me for the flame war that they
were the major contributors to.
