Anyone with Furygan jackets fitted with built-in back protection?

    Hi,

    I'm interested in a motorcycle jacket/suit with a good built-in back
protection. Can anyone elaborate on the back protection found in the
    Furygan leathers?

Buy a jacket that will fit over a proper back protector and get one of
them too. Inbuilt protectors are never as good, or as long.

That one uses the same armadillo-shell protector that they sell with
its own harness. And comes down right over the coccyx.

I can't speak for Furygan, but I work for another motorcycle clothing
company. Back protectors are no longer supplied fitted to the
clothing my employers distribute, as the EU standards for back
protectors now mean they would be quite obtrusive, and to qualify as
CE protection they don't necessarily fit into the provided pockets
every time. As Pip has said elsewhere in this thread, ideally you
should wear a proper back protector to suit your back length
underneath, not as part of, your jacket. Those fitted to clothing are
    a limited compromise at best.

Do you have some more information on that back protector. Pictures,
links etc. I just can't find any information on the internet.

FWIW Heinz Gherkin do a back protector in their Hi-Protec range. I have
one and though it hasn't been put to the acid test it is impressive. Not
rigid but 3 layers of different rubber type materials.

I have put their shoulder and knee stuff to the acid test and it is
fucking marvellous. From the same trial the top of range Knox race back
protector, as worn by a few here, almost certainly prevented (according
    to paramedics) a broken spine.
