That's fine, then, and apologies. I will simply add that the message I
got was that it was possible that you were going to be sharing a room.

I will only add that ISTR someone, a year or two ago, saying they were
"definitely interested" in coming, and then getting peeved when that
wasn't taken as a "definite yes".......

Move along folks, nothing to see here.

  3. Thank you.
First I knew about that was seeing Nick's reply to my post. It was a
very kind offer by him, but I wouldn't accept it without checking with
    you and/or the hotel.
Well that's their own silly fault, TOG tours have been running long
enough for people to know how it works.
You do realise that Krusty now has a popcorn surplus? Maybe we should
find something else to argue about?

On a completely unrelated matter I picked up a book the other day you
may wish to borrow (if you haven't read it already) Tony Gray 'Fleet
    Street Remembered'.

Don't worry on my account - I'll just ask Bear & SteveH if they met in
Bristol at the weekend if no other popcorn-eating threads turn up.

  6. Or there is always the old favourite of 'Des vs the World' to fall back
on. Although thats more a bottle of wine and a good book spectacle that
    a popcorn one..

[1] Not Alan. Although the other way round was entirely likely when I
was having to look after some Amstrad PCs at one point.

You mean you like going to events where you can appear to be clever whereas
at *OSMs and French runs, no-one gives a ****.

Well they won't be able to accuse you of not lurking or taking notice of
what goes on in UKRM will they

I've been lurking on and off for around five years. I post very rarely and
never use the same name twice. I've even been to a *OSM but for reasons
ofsecrecy and a smidgen of "let's have a game of 'Guess Who'", I couldn't
    really give a ****, either.

By the way, I don't use smilies ;-)

TOG's bagsied Chimay for a weekend?

Great, I'll take Hans Sur Lesse as mine then! No UKRMers to go there
without my say so in case it knackers up the local catering... ...and
no sneaking onto any of the local roads either 'cos that would be
    rude!

Stupid rules. Dontcha just love em.

Oldest argumentative trick in the book, and one of Aristotles original
fallacies (can't remember its name). In order to criticise TOG you
    invent rules he never made.

That'll do, although it wasn't the one I was thinking of, which was
more simply moving the goalposts to a more advantageous position.

I think I was wrong about Aristotle, although I did find this

After a long struggle with my memory I decided it came from a
long-lost copy of Thouless' "Straight and Crooked Thinking" - which it
    did. See number 4 here.
