Anyone want to buy a Ducati 750 SS ?

  1. Bugger Feking **** Nuggets.

I, being a fat bastard, don't fit it.

I think it may also be to do with the left knee and ankle that got broken
about 10 years ago, and re-sprained last year.

I just can't get foot to sit naturally under the gear lever, and can't get
it over the top to change down.

And it just doesn't feel right - totally wrong riding position for me, which
is probably why I never had sportsbikes.

Which is a fucking shame as its a lovely bit of kit and looks really nice
    after a polish.

It would suit Dan, you know. Sound bike, good pedigree, been looked
after. Prolly a good price, too.

    You'd love it, Dan.

Not to far from me, then.
Fine; saw the link to eBay further down the thread.
The email address should work, although a bit slow sometimes. Did you
    take out the spamtrap?

Could be tempted to come and check it out tomorrow, unless it looks like
it will be raining all day long.

I tend to prefer a strong mid-range to top-end power, and this often
comes with more cc's. My interest for the 900 was based on a ride on a
demo 750 SS around 10 years ago, which I thought lacked low- mid-range.
But this was perhaps based on an unfair comparison to the bike I had
    then (600 offroad).
Well my current bike has plenty of mass and stability, so I wouldn't
mind a more agile bike for shorter runs. If I remember correctly, the
750 and the 900 SS are not that different, wheightwise.

  18. They weigh about the same. Crucial difference as regards handling is
that the 750 runs slightly narrower tyres and thus actually steers
    better.

As reagrds reliability and longevity, the 750 is much better. The 900
has a six-speed gearbox. Rumour has it that they had to shave the cogs a
fraction to get them into box, and with the extra torque it's not
*quite* as solid as the 750's five-speed. And there's no way a Duke 900
    needs six gears anyway.

Also, the 750 has a decent wet clutch instead of the 900's dry rattling
    and short-lived abortion.

The 750 is also sweeter and smoother.
