    Are they any good?

What are the pros and cons?

Yes, but get one that is thermostatically controlled so that it turns
itself off if the sun comes out. Also by turning itself off periodically
you are less likely to get flat battery problems.

I know a number of happy riders who use Giali stuff

Couldn't see any details or links to the wizard control technology.

And either I have got too much money or something because it does not
seem that dear considering the pleasure it could bring to cold bones.

  6. Yes. Essential
Pros: If you keep your body core warm, the rest of you will stay warm(er)
so there's less need for heating gloves or socks. My Giali heated waistcoat
thing is beautifully warm even when there's ice forming on the sleeves of
    your jacket.

Cons: If you forget to unplug when stepping off the bike it can all go
    horribly wrong. DAMHIK,IJD,OK

I have a Belstaff Explorer for the winter, but having already tested
it out this last week and still been cold [1] I'm looking into
    something with heat IN it.

[1] I really DO feel the cold!
