Anyone near old Harlow for a favour?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Jul 4, 2009.

  1. Twatty who scraped my BMW by deciding to get out of his car on the M25,
has given his address as 5 Seeleys, Old Harlow, CM17 0AD (and I've no
qualms whatsoever in putting that on Usenet).

It is just possible he transposed two digits in his phone number:
    0796767644 (ditto).

If anyone's close by, I'd really appreciate a knock on the door just to
check it's his address. I want to give him one chance to dig himself out
of the mire by saving us both a load of hassle and coughing for the
    damage pronto. Like on Monday.

A very polite: did you know you gave my mate an incorect phone number
yesterday? He'd appreciate a call now, before it goes legal." would be
    useful.

Tall order, I know, you if you don't ask....

At the very least, see if there's a slightly battered green saxo in the
    drive...

    Glad yer okay though.

Happy to give it a try. Unless someone else round here does, wouldn't
want the Essex contingent all turning up over the weekend, would we?

That address is registered to a woman as the sole occupant (email me for
    further info).

I'm not too far from Harlow and would be happy to oblige but I won't be able
to go that way prolly until next weekend.
So, if you still need someone by then, I'll see what I can do.
    Not much help, I know.

I think that at this point I'd look for the green Saxo and if it's not
there then straight to plod rather than go knocking on doors.

It's not a lost cause yet. If you plug the postcode into Google Earth there
is something that could well be a darkish green Saxo parked nearby. The
address might belong to the girlfriend or her mum.

DVLA should give you the registered keepers address in that situation,
I would think. The criteria for them dishing out the info is that the
person asking has a legitimate reason to know, aiui. Failing that, JP?
So they could be claiming the single occupancy discount on council tax,
in which case the council would be interested if said scrote does live
    there too.

Shows up fine on Google maps. Satellite view shows a modern-ish development
of terraced rabbit hutches with communal parking, no driveways and tiny
    gardens.

Don't **** about trying to get him to pay out of his pocket, just go
    straight to the insurance company.

You're dealing with the lowest of the low, so it'll just end up being a
world of pain and fucking around.

Tempted to agree, but don't they generally say "50/50" if you're
    filtering, regardless of the circumstances?
