Anyone near Ipswich that can twiddle spanners competently?

Also need to know how to split a stroker case and fettle a gearbox.

A young lad on the Gilera list has bought a Crono 125 (he thought it was
a GFR but that's another story). Can't get neutral. We've talked him
through the simple stuff (dragging clutch, tight chain, knackered gear
lever on etc.), but now he has the lump out on the bench and still can't
get neutral. Apparently the previous ebay seller mentioned that it
stopped suddenly one day and it might need a bit of "easy work" as gear
selection is difficult. Frankly ,given that the seller completely
wrongly described it (though the owner claims it says GFR on the reg.
document) I would have asked for a refund.

Obviously impecunious and doesn't want to pay a mechanic. Seems a shame
for another sports Gilera 125 to end up as pile of bodged bits for want
    of a bit of knowledge.

Could anyone 'local' help him at least get to the point of diagnosing it
    needs expensive unobtainium parts?

If all else fails and he's still stuck next month, I'm within about
    sixty miles.

He might end up with a box of bits and no real answer, mind....

I'll bear it in mind thanks. He's gone suspiciously quiet.
Except the TOGging option. Problem being that it isn't a GFR and not
    even approaching an original Crono.
