Anyone know Bill Inglis?

Discussion in 'Classic Motorbikes' started by Rusty Hinge 2, Feb 4, 2006.

  1. Bill Inglis - Brentwood (Essex) until early '60s, emigrated to Sith
Effrica (Lighthouse Road, East London), and someone told me, has
    returned to the UK

Any pointers to his whereabouts would be much appreciated - on this
    side, st least...

    (Absolute ACE welder, is Willie.)

Is it such a challenging welding job that there is only one man in the
world who could take it on?

It must be a real Shite job you've got lined up for him - no wonder he's
    gone to ground. :)

  4. True. Who else though, is capable of welding my memory back into my head?

If he's a welder, someone at http://www.ukwelder.com/ may have heard of
    him.

Now that they have launched HMS Daring I'd give BAE Systems shipyard in
Scotstoun a ring. Plenty of robust welders there .

If it were a robust welder i needed i could ask my neighbour.

As it is, I do most of my own welding.

Unfortunately I haven't got a gas set, though I can weld much better
with gas than I can with arc.

(Well, I could, but I haven't done anything for years in that line but
bronze welding and brazing using propane.)

I grow fartichokes every year on a bit of ground I can't do anything
else with (very stony and sandy)

The stems reached more than ten feet this year, and for the fist time,
    had flowers.

I get all the 'dripping' from the local butcher's chicken rotisserie,
and then separated it into stock and fat. The stock, diluted a little
and blended with the tubers is all you need for - oops! Sorry! - soup
and - Pardon me! - it maybe needs a little - Sorry! - ground pepper,
nutmeg and a few - OOps! Oh dear, that was a bit rank, wasn't it? -
    herbs thrown in.

    Thhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpppppppppppppppppttttttttttttttttttttt!

I have gauges and nozzles etc here, but haven't looked into the cost of
hiring bottles. I suspect not cheap.

I used to exchange them at a friendly local garage. But you have to get
hold of a pair of uncondemned ones first, if you can find a garage to
    play ball - or bottle.
