Anyone had problems getting TRIUMPHOZ to honour their warranty?

I have a warranty dispute with TriumphOz.
The have left me no option but to use Dept of Fair Trading to try for
    mediation.
My personal experience with TriumphOz leaves me believing that their
attention to detail is lousy and they have virtually non customer focus.
Anyone else had a warranty dispute with them?
    Cheers,

My 02 Speed Triple is a pretty crappy bike.

  2. Nope.
Never owned a Triumph tho so that might have something to do with it.

Scum's ST dissolved into thin air and TrumpetOz didn't want to look at it! ;)

    Yeah...the rotten mongrels,

Ah well, I got a new second hand Daytona now so no more probs with the ST.

(oh yeah...Peter Stevens/Triumph Australia will never be getting their hands
on if I can convince my mechanic to take on any warranty work if needed.)

    Nope,

but never had anything go wrong either. It's been a pretty boring 30 thou. Push button and go.... apart from running out of fuel a
coupla times. Guess I can;t claim for that.

Email me off group. What's the issue?

  8. I found the Triumph Australia people to be very helpful, to the extent of,
after I filled out the customer feedback card and mentioned the poor FI,
their technical guru contacting me to find out what was wrong, and working
with the local mechanic to fix it. Which they did.

Nothing else that could be a warranty claim occured. A couple of weird
electrical things that were intermittent and couldn't be duplicated, but no
problem getting them looked at. In each case the local guy contacted
Melbourne for advice, and they were helpful, although all the fancy
diagnostics in the world couldn't find out why the bike was doing what it
was. I figured it was channelling Lucas... None of these problems have
    ever recurred since.

Interesting side note - used to belong to a forum for my particular bike
(TT600). One of the members I found out was the technical guru from Triumph
Australia. He gave out heaps of good free advice to other forum members
with issues, but he never let on who he was until we got into an off-board
discussion. I promised to keep his secret!

I've got to that point. New manuals are on order from Jack Lilley, more
    tools to follow.

Most of my gremlins came down to a faulty earth block. Now the wires are
    directly earthed to the battery.

Battery still dumps it's guts overnight for no obvioius reason a couple of
    times a year.

Don't get me started on @%#&*! the cooling system though...

Anybody wanna swap a T595 for a '90 model HD Softail?

G'day mate, long time no speak...

I will stick to my mechanic,
He has a certain history with the importers and Peter Stevens.

    Bike Details-
2002 Acidic Yellow Daytona bought with only 3900k's on the odo, private
    sale.
But like has already been said elsewhere in the thread it's rare to get any
major probs in any of the new models these days and it doesn't hurt to have
the ear of a very experienced mechanic with any particular brand of bike you
    would like to name.

    Battery dumps:

    Check for stuck relays (Bosch)

    If Overheating :-
    a) pre-99 models have overzealous temp gauges... latter were dumbed down so as not to alarm anyone..
    and/or
    b) bleeding the system is important.
    and/or
    c) cleaning scum off the rad cap seals helps.

As a '99 model I can vouch for perfect running in 44 degrees heat.

  15. I love the way everybody always says they dont like Peter Stevens, yet
when it comes time to buy the majority of people will still visit and
    possibly buy from them.

This is a generalisation I realise that but if he was so unpopular, why
is he expanding? The money doesnt just grow on trees.

I've thought about the relays. I've only thought about replacing them.
How do you check if they're sticking?
Mine was fine in the North Queensland summers (11 months of the year)
for six years before the mech fucked with it. It was a bugger to bleed
last time I did the coolant but I finally got it.
Bled it until my knuckles bled. Squeezed it, prodded it, poked it,
burped it, System is full. No air locks at all. Still overheats.
It's a new cap and I've remolded the filler neck with epoxy, wet & dry
and a sheet of glass to get it flat again after the mech melted and
warped it (just a little, enough to hear a slight sucking sound while
cooling down) with his heat gun. (He uses the heat gun to open the
thermostat when filling the system with coolant.) Anyway, now it seals.

Nothing I do makes any difference. I can't ride for 20kms without it
    running into the red.

Currently I'm either thinking wrong spec radiator cap or faulty water
pump. Then maybe a system flush and pressure test at Natrad. Fuckin'
    radiators belong in cars...

Buying's different to servicing, innit ?

I'd buy a bike from Fraser's if they gave me the best deal, but sure as hell
wouldn't get them to service it

The accessories are the only reason i go into Peter Stevens
even their fire auction today drew in a huge crowd and I couldn't
believe the prices of some of the goods being sold.
Dainese leather jackets with soot stains were going at $250 up to $375
    more than 50% off retail
The soot looks easy enough to scrub off.
I expect to see ebay the trading post and this newsgroup to have a few
    "for sale" ads soon.
