I hope you, and all the others, attending the AGM have a really good time.

Personally, I still claim that Ulysses members are like Americans,
individually, some of the nicest people you could care to meet, but, in
large concentrations, to be avoided like the plague.

Are you going to the Eastern Creek day on Wednesday?

  5. Same could be said about this group Cam, the majority of the group are nice
to hear from and read their contributions, yet there are a few who, because
they might have been here for two weeks longer than others, consider the
group as THEIR group and woebetide anyone who crosses them with an aside
remark of their riding skills, their choice of bike or their choice of
drink, even their choice of newsreader.
That person or persons, are immediately put on the outer and the "elite
inner circle" group.... together backing each other even if they are wrong,
they will never ever admit it.
There are other who have only joined lately, post messages, then continue to
hold these "elite inner circle" grup members in awe as if they are Gods
greatest gift to mankind, read every word as if it was the Holy Bible of the
    Newsgroup

But, get any of them on their own, they are nice as pie, yet, they will
still not agree with anything the dissenter says, even if they totally agree
in thought, because of the fear of being admonished and cast out of the
    "inner circle"

Of course, a large concentration of Scots is a bit how's your father
    too...

    Dunno, George.

To me, aus.moto is a virtual bike club.

"Virtual", in that, unlike a real bike club, we don't actually have all
the formal bits of presidents and secretaries and registers.

Anybody who wants can effectively wander in, and, in a way become members.

So folk have been hanging round aus.moto longer than others. That is
just a fact of life. I really don't see an "elite inner circle" but
then again I'm not looking for one. <shrug>

I would be fairly confident that, were I to meet, face to face, with
more or less any of the aus.moto crowd, I would enjoy the meeting.

I'd be much less confident of the same being true of the U.C.
    membership. :-(

  9. Precisely, but, when some group members meet, they tend to treat others as
cast-offs because they are not there

None as such, but some consider themselves to be far superior to others
They "killfile" some posters, so they don't have to see what they say, only
to look like complete idiots because they reply to a posting with almost the
same answer of a "killfiled" reply of maybe a few hours previously.
Hilarious !! seen it happen a few times lately

My answer to that is if you don't like what the poster has to say, then
don't read it, you are only "killfiling" them to your own eyes
their answer or post is out there for all to see.

That's true, but from my side of the fence, I can see them

It would be a pleasure to meet up with you Cam, somewhere, sometime along
    the track

Or any other bike club, outlaw or not

  10. Gerry has got it wrong, he really meant a large concentration of Scotch

No, George, I DON'T think a large concentration of scotch is a bit
how's your father. Especially the 28 year old stuff.

I'm off to listen to Eric Bogle at Katoomba tonight...

    He's not a bit how's your father either... He's about a 68 year old
    scotch... g,d,r...

    Nor patches, nor rockers...
Yeah, well, the haven't been able to kick _me_ out yet...
    Been here since 1995.
Ahh.. a master of the snide implication... You have elevated it to
    an artform...

But seriously, I agree with George in so much as there are
_definitely_ those in here who _think_ (albeit in their own luchtime)
that they do form the creme-de-la-creme of OzMoto. So I would say
that there definintely is a _wannabe_ "elite inner circle" here. Any
one who treats them as such would be a snivvelling spineless toady.
And there's a few of _those_ around here as well...
Yeah, but you're just a wonderfully tolerant all round nice guy... As
    is Zebee... [puke]
Yeah, and they've got no balls... Probably why they can ride their
bikes for hours and hours without getting sore...

But some of us still have the original T-shirt.

Was it Kevin G. who did the first lot?
See how tolerant we really are? ;-)
Dunno, anybody interest can look for themselves, I always signed as
CrazyCam, but original e-mail addy was
    manson(maybe with a d)@decus.org.au
Geez, I'd love to be able to accept a compliment with grace and
elegance, but, when I don't bloody understand it, I'm a wee bit lost for
    words.
Again, sorry, but I don't see it.

At one time or another, I reckon most of us have hit the "send" button,
and then later regretted it. My excuse is either the drink made me do
it, or it was my turn for the thoughtless comment.
No, the way I see it is that the aus.moto folk are all, at heart,
interested in motorcycles and things to do with motorcycling.

Zebee is a good bloke, apart from the delusion of the Norge being a
    sports/tourer. :)
Quite a lot of them are OK, but there are a few Hell"s Hairdressers.

Old Number 1 of U.C. always told me how good a colostomy bag was, since
he didn't have to keep stopping for a pee.

  16. Isnt that what could be classed as colours or a patch ??

Cam, didn't you say just a minute ago, " But some of us still have the
    original T-shirt".

Why do you have one and not others? isn't that being elitist?

I always thought the Eric Bogle was a Geordie, as in from the real,
original, accept no substitutes, Newcastle on Tyne, or there or there
    abouts.

Now, the folk from that area are very nice, and, but for a small error
in geography, _should_ have had the honour of being Scottish, but, sadly
    lost out.

    Yes I did.

This was in reply to a comment about other forms of club insignia, and
not, in anyway, a "neah, I've got an aus.motot T-shirt and you haven't"
    comment.

I don't remember when they were done, at a wild guess, maybe mid 1996.
I was in aus.moto at the time, paid the money and got one.

What do you expect me to do, buy all new arrivals in aus.moto a fucking
    T-shirt, so I don't feel guilty?

    Get serious George.

I have no idea why you weren't involved in aus.moto in 1996, nor why you
weren't personally approached and asked if you wanted a T-shirt, but I
certainly don't feel the least guilty about it.

If that counts as elitist, then I guess you have me.

    regards,
    CrazyCam (the elitist)

Look George, when you are sitting in Pie in the Sky, chatting to Steven,
and he tells you something about his colostomy bag, while you are eating
a curried beef pie, you don't actually _want_ to seriously discuss the
    technical details.

  20. From T.A.S. Wikipedia:

Eric Bogle (born 23 September 1944 in Peebles, Scotland). Peebles is
maybe halfway between Glasgow and Newcastle?

And it's Newcastle Upon Tyne, you iggernant person.
