Serious question here, do you really think things will change if Bush
does return? Even if things happen (Bush's policies) as you say will it
make a blind bit of difference anyway?

Yet you happily spent their money whilst you were employed by a US company?

There's nothing racist about it Des. It's more to do with recent history.
I don't recall the Americans getting the tanks out (and using them) the last
time there was a protest in Washington.

    Do you?

They are calling it "liberal Imperialism" on the beeb.

I think it works out that invasion and shit is allowed but after they
have gone in and slapped the bad boys about a bit they sell the good
stuff to the highest bidder and **** off home to cream in the profits.

I dunno meself, I think it is a bit like communism me. It sounds good
on the 6 o'clock news but I think some of the details still need a bit
    of work.

I actually think a bit of the opposite, Kerry might and I emphasise
*might* be able to go some way to restoring America's [1] reputation
internationally. However I'm sceptical about anybody's ability to change
US policy from the inside. The strings are still being pulled no matter
    who's strings they are.

Mind you maybe I read a bit too much into the preachings of Reverend Moore.

As for bankrupting the country, do you really believe that would ever be
    allowed?

[1] God I hope that apostrophe is right :)

America as perceived by the experiences of the rest of the world will
not change at all in the short term but as Des says, America inside
itself will start a ball rolling and it *will* gather moss.

    Not really no.

It will be quicker and bloodier now granted but a lot more of that blood
will not be merkin. I was rooting for Kerry.

Surprisingly little, as no party has the 60 votes in the senate
required to break the filibuster, so really bad legislation will be
killed on the senate floor. Speaking of which, here's a name to watch:
Barak Obama, said to be the first possible black president.

Even with up to four supreme court justices up for grabs soon it's
even unlikely that something as controversial as Roe vs. Wade will be
    overturned, as some are predicting.

TBH, I'm a little glad that Kerry isn't going through. I dislike his
style and the way he ran his campaign. Another white billionaire
talking absolute meaningless bollocks, flip-flopping all over the
place and peddling the same old half-truths and homilies. Totally
uninspriring both as a senator and as a presidential candidate.

America is one of the most diverse societies in the world. There's
plenty of them who can do quiet introspection. In fact, on the
election coverage, pretty much all of the Kerry supporters cited
restoring 'normal relations' with the rest of the world as a key
    reason for voting for him.

If you felt that strongly against America and it's policies, then surely you
would not have worked at an American company. I think it's a bit
hypocritical to say your life "is impacted negatively" when until recently
America was, in a roundabout way, paying your wages.

To me, money in the bank is a positive - is it not to you?
Ah, okay - so conspiracy theories are now fact?

There will be millions of merkin deaths. The rest of us simply will not

You don't seriously believe what I believe you appear to be believing there,

    do you?

No, s-u-r-e-l-y you'll put me back in my bag by saying it was just a joke.
I mean, as a student of fruitcake conspiracy theories, I could just about
[at a very long stretch] accept the perverted logic behind the famous "5
dancing Israelis" - Mossad spooks, supposedly - laughing as they filmed the
planes going in; but never that the septics would do it themselves. They've
certainly pulled a few analagous strokes in the past - USS Maine in 1898,
the Tonkin incident and, arguably, Pearl Harbor itself. To hit both the WTC
towers *and* the Pentagon? No, surely not.

But but but, what's the local griff on 'Suite Francaise', by Irene
Nemirovsky? It got an extended mention on R4 yesterday morning. Is it as
good as they say? What's the best place to buy French books online; any
improvement on www.alapage.tm.fr? FNAC don't appear to be carrying it.
French bookshops in UK are quoting 3-4 weeks delivery and 22 quid, compared
with ?22 and presumably 3-4 days from Paris.

    Prétentieux, moi?
