Anyone collect old Haynes car manuals?

I've got a bunch of them to get rid of[1], courtesy of my parents. The
plan is to stick them all on ebay, then think of a Plan B if they don't
sell. The trouble is I don't know what Plan B is yet.

Got a few of my own that failed to sell first time round too - Alfa
    Alfetta, BMW 320/323/325 & Ford Consul/Granada if anyone's interested.
I relisted them but I doubt they'll sell.

[1] Along with some far more interesting stuff, like original factory
manuals & service sheets for BSAs, Royal Enfields etc.

<Waves> - I'd like the Beemer one and I can look after any others you
    can't sell too.

Ok they're yours if they don't sell. I'm intrigued though - why?!?

Er, I dunno actually. Most of the ones I've got are for vehicles I've
owned but I have several that I never have.

Not quite as bad as collecting old tax discs, IMO.

  5. God. I bought a job lot of hardback Haynes manuals for SOCs at a jumble,
once. Old Metro, Golf, Vauxhall Nova, Sierra, etc etc.

I sold one on eBay, got tired of carting the rest around, and gave them
to an Oxfam shop in the end.

I've done quite well with the others I've had kicking around for years.
The best was a non-hardback Tomos manual which sold for ?21 to a bloke
    in Austria.

Also sold a CX/GL500 one to a bloke in the Netherlands, Ducati
    750/860/900 to a froggie, & rather amazingly got ?10.50 for a Calibra
    one.

There's a shed-load (about 30) in our local charity shop for various
late 70s to mid 80s cars, like Mk1 Escort, Vauxhall things and the
odd strange one. The pikey in me thinks I should buy them all and
stick them on the 'bay, but reading this makes me think otherwise!

Paging Catman... might be worth having for your 'bitza' 116.

I manage a Project for a very well known Charity where we teach kids
to be bike and car mechanics. All the cars and bikes are donated and
we never know what we will get next. Therefore we try to have "one of
everything" from the Haynes publishers of Lies.

See above. I already have it, although, TBH, mine is falling apart.

It's also not *hugely* useful as there is very little Alfetta left :)

  12. A worthwhile cause. I've already passed on some ShiteOldHonda bits to
    his lads.

  14. I've got a few Haynes manuals left after the great eBay purge of 2010.
I'll have to check later exactly what but they're all for SOBs.
    Free to a loving home.

    It takes all kinds...
Years ago at a library sale, as a joke I picked up a report entitled,
Ion Solvent Reactions - Apparent and Partial Molal Volumes of Some
Symmetrical Tetraalkylammonium Halides in Anhydrous Methanol
Solutions. I figured it was arcane enough to impress a bimbo or two,
and if any guests were having trouble sleeping, it was a sure cure.
Years go by, until a biochemist surfing buddy saw it at a party. He
went into a shell until he'd finished it and came out to pronounce it
    "quite interesting."

    Really, now. Haynes manuals, exciting?

  17. OK Here we go.
First is a photocopied workshop manual for a Ducati 500 SL Pantah.
Then, Haynes manuals for Suzuki GP100 & 125 singles; Suzuki GT, ZR &
    TS50; Suzuki A50P; Honda 250 G5 & 360 twins; Honda GL1000 Gold Wing;
    Honda CBX 550 Four.
All pretty tatty but free if you want them. Just mail me a postal address =)
