Ok, I'm weird, but I find her strangely attractive and more than a little
bit horny. Her singing leaves a bit to be desired (with her oddball
pronunciation) but she at least manages to stay in tune.

I'd be the goat if she was the sucker.

There was really no need to do that. I feel fucking sick now and I've never
    done anything to hurt you.

    She really is *awful*.
I spoke to a paramedic who did her concert recently and it was just as bad
    in person.

It's unusual that we agree on anything, but vocally she's OK (sounds
like a cross between Winehouse and Roisin Murphy) and visually she'd be
alright (in a ginger billie piper way) if she stopped trying so hard to
    be quirky.

The Florence vid, otoh, is abominable.

Makes you wonder how she got to where she is. She wouldn't even get a
job as a backing singer in a third rate holiday camp with a voice like
    that.

Oh sure successful performing is more than a diamond voice but what has F&TM
got in even small quantities? You saw her at Glastonbury I think.

Hardly, but he can at least sing in tune[1], unlike Florence who's so
flat it's painful to listen to.

[1] Or at least could when he started, no idea about now.

For some value of tune, certainly.
He hasn't hit the right note since Nashville Skyline. And that was a
    fluke.

For a great example, check out My Back Pages from his 30th anniversary
concert. There's the raw live footage, with his original vocals, and the
dubbed footage with vocals overlaid from a later studio session.

He's one of my all-time favourites but I'd never, ever want to see him
    live again.

am I missing something? What's wrong with this track? Have you never
heard of microtonality? I have perfect pitch, and completely
    understand what she's doing here.

The Master Chief version is better, mind...

no worse than any other "new jazz" female vocalist that I've heard.

Then again, this household has been "rocking" to the sounds of Enter
Shikari and Pendulum most of this morning, so I'm possibly not the
best person to ask about questions of musical taste right now.

Hmm. So you're saying she's deliberately singing out of tune? Funny how
she doesn't do that on any of her studio tracks.
