Anybody actually got one of these?

KTM 990 Adventure? I like the looks, it ticks all the right boxes,
useable (free ATM) luggage & reasonable power. The seat looks a tad
harsh on the botty, but I'll have a good ride to see if can live with
it. Mind you, after 250 miles with one stop on the blade, anything will
    feel like an armchair

You may find that the biggest problem is actually being able to get your
feet on the ground. I've no idea how long your legs are, but my ex-bf who
is around a 33" inside leg found it an uncomfortable stretch, so bought the
950 instead. The 950 is a marvellous machine and beautifully put together.
I loved it when I had a shot - deceptively rapid and by god you can lean it
    over without even realising it.

I'm six foot three, but my legs are long, i have sat on one, in fact
they do a high seat version which is £20 more. I have to say, the
enduro r is mammoth though, it is about 5-6 inches higher than the
Adventure. My bro is six five & he cant touch to floor.

Mind you, who needs the floor on a proper enduro.

I quite fancied one of these of myself. In terms of spec, it seems
quite close to the R1200GS but a little cheaper. The other day I saw
one of these on the road and the engine sounded rather nasty: sort of
pop-popping away like an old two stroke single on idle. Not what I'd
expect to hear from a modern bike engine.

Maybe it was a one-off, maybe the rider has changed the exhaust and
not tuned the engine to suit. However, given your recent experiences,
I would look deeply into their reliability before considering one much
    further.
