Any MV Agusta know-alls in the area?

I've been asked by work if I can find out anything about an old MV
Agusta which is part of the boss's collection of old race bikes. I
can get some photos of the bike in question (of course, pretty bloody
useless if I can't), is there anyone out there who may be able to shed
some light on what the hell it might be? It's foxing everyone at work
who has tried, but they don't have access to the UK's premier source
of information about absolutely anything. Neither do I, so I thought
    I'd ask you lot.

I haven't. I'll check with the originator of the question first, in
    case it's already in hand.

No, but if it was a Gilera, I know a man who can. Four, twin or single?
His best bet might be to get in touch with Mick Walker.

Is that the 750 America near door behind the stairs?

Things have been moved around a bit. George wants an information
board with each bike as part of the display, which Nick's been tasked
with. You know more than anyone else so far, as they can't agree if
    it's a 750 or a 500. I haven't had chance to have a good look at it
    yet.

I was under the impression it's a 750 America. I came to that
conclusion because it's identical to one that used to live round the
corner from me in Putnoe, where I bought my first house.

That's good enough for me. I'll pass that on for further research,
    thanks.

Wasn't the roadgoing 500 a twin? The 750 was definitely a four, and
that one's a four cyl model. I always thought that was a road kitted
bike as well, maybe I'm mistaken - hadn't realised it was a race bike.

    Yes, it's a four, so it's a 750. I think you're right in that it's a
road bike - they aren't all racers by any means. You probably know
better than I do what's there, I think UKRM would have collective
orgasms and/or apoplexy if they got to see them. I might ask if that
can be made possible, as it happens.

    DJ's R1 is actually one of a few R71s made, the R1 engine shoe-horned
into an R7 frame by Tony Scott. It's a work of art.
    Very nice!

Flitwick have a couple of those too, tucked away in the warehouse
gathering dust. I was looking lovingly over an ex-Niall Mackenzie BSB
motor in the Steve Linsdell built GTS1000 chassis when I worked there,
now that bike's a work of art.

Shaft drive? We've already established further down it's a four...

    There's a good chance it's either a 750, 750 America as Lozzo suggests
or even one of the later 800s. Of course there's also a chance that
it's a Magni (he who used to be MV Agusta's race chief).

  17. My memory is that they did a 600cc four for the road, BICBW.

Indeed, now one of those would be very rare.
