OK but it was going to involve a lot of big pictures. I will upload them
    to photobucket and report back

While cleaning the bike yesterday I noticed the studs and nuts holding the
pipes onto the barrels where a tad 'rusty' The bike is 5 year old and
nothing else on it is rusty or corroded like these.

I'm of half a mind, although some here would say I don't even have that
half, that the metal used in the studs/nuts is not correct and will need
    sorting ASAP.

Here are some not to good but large pictures, please have a gander and
    tell me what you think.

    Thanks

    "Exhaust header fasteners"
They're mild steel, they're subject to great heating and cooling,
they're exposed to all the crap coming off the front wheel. They all
corrode just like that unless you replace them with something like
    stainless steel.
Oh, you're Borg, you morphing ****. That explains a lot. You don't
share DNA with Robbo, do you?

I'd call that normal. Exhaust manifold studs and nuts all do it as
far as my experience goes (but I'm not an expert).

No, but only because I don't know what Borg looks like. So far my
mental image has only confirmed that I don't want to watch star trek
    anytime soon.
