If it's a service provided over the internet to your customers, then
    it's cloud-based.

    I disagree.

For me, cloud has to at least imply a flexible usage/metering model.
That's the whole point of it.

I would have thought thats the definition of 'hosted' rather than cloud-
    based.

    Certainly more likely.

By a not so curious quirk of fate I was in the House of Lords this
morning, discussing some buzzwords with Microsoft around the cloud. Even
they (and their colleagues from Infosys) don't really have a solid
    definition yet.

  6. Fuel for the nominative determinists among us perhaps? Maybe they should
have called it something more substantial.

    A fair point.

I'm absolutely no expert, but, based on my (rather empirical)
experience of CD servo mechanisms, then as long as the mech type is
the same as the PCB has been 'tuned' for then IWHT that the initial
calibration should compensate for any tolerances - that's why it's
    done.

It's probably harder for CD players because they have to cope with
wildly varying levels fo reflectivity, angular inertia, eccentricity
    and so on.

I disagree. I think there can be an element of resilience as well as or
    instead of.

I thought this might have been the problem from your description as I've
had a similar problem when installing a new motherboard which won't see
anything until the correct network driver is installed.

I thought I would hang off until I read the whole thread and lo and
    behold...
