Any deals with free insurace?

My mate Mark wants to get another bike. It's been 18 months since he
got rid of his GSXR600. Trouble is, although the **** is 30, he has
only one year's NCB, so the problem is insurance.

He said to me last night that if he could find anywhere doing a
sports-type bike between 600 and 1000cc with free insurance, he'd buy
    it.

    Anyone know of anything?

He looked at a new 955i and the quote was around 1500. They even wanted
    900-ish for a GSXR600.

Where are Carnell/Motorcyclecity/Ripoffsi when you want them.

Didn't they do a package deal. CBT, DAT, R1, Insurance, funeral.?

    Seriously. ?:-(

Gareth only pays 316 insurance on his Bandit. He's 20 and has 1 years
    NCB.

Sounds about normal for 1 yrs NCB.

Maybe he should consider something cheap and less powerful (like an
SV650), or something 3 or 4 yrs old (Yamaha Thundercat maybe?), as in
both cases insurance will be much lower.

I have a hunch that Ben's friend Mark is trying to get fully comp.
insurance. I would bet that £316 only buys TPFT.

  6. Tell him to lie about his age. If he's single, tell hime to lie about
    that as well.

Being over 40 and married seems to bring the numbers down an awful lot.

    Heaven knows.
    He only needs the bike and the insurance. He won't need the funeral;
    he's a smart lad.

My b12's costing me something like 600 quid (in Chiswick, about a ton
less once I move to Maidenhead) with no NCB, aged 26, and a total loss
    theft claim a year ago.

Does he insist on the bike being new? Would he like to buy a bandit? ;)

He should be able to get better then that.. I'm looking at getting better
    then that and I'm 24!
That said, my bike isn't new.

    And I have a garage.

    And live in the 'countryside'.

Maidenhead? What made you choose there?

Work. Got fed up of the commute, and I cant rent a palace in MH for what
I'm paying for a 1 bed flat in Chiswick.

I work all over the place, but I'm based in Maidenhead for a dept that
used to be part of R&D at Kingswood Warren.

If it was a choice between MH and Shepherds Bush, I'd probably opt for
the former, tbh. Telly Centre is a shithole.

    I will suggest it, but he's a smidgeon under 6foot, and he's quite a
lanky twat, and his bird likes riding pillion. These factors probably
don't add up to 400cc race rep...
He's no mug on a bike, despite only having done DAS three years ago.
His Dad has bikes - indeed, is something in the bike trade down Poole
way - and he spend years motocrossing. Being a total petrolhead, his
roadsense is pretty top notch, too.

I know there's no substitute for experience, but I'm confident about his
abilities enough to have lent him my CBR while I was in China.
