Only I'm now on the chase of a trials sidecar on Ebay.

    http://tinyurl.com/6jsg9l

The plan, if I win it, is to attach it to my XT600E to give me a
fighting chance of getting to the Elefant Rally upright.

As you'll see, it was originally attached to a Norton of some
denomination, and before that a Suzuki Beamish (whatever that is or
was). I'm not really worried about the tidiness of the attachments
that will hopefully hook it to the Yam. The important thing is that it
can be easily detached when I get home, or if I crash the thing and
need to jettison the chair en route.

I've got a big tin of odd brackets and bits of Dexion, so I'm sure
something can be cobbled up to bolt onto the frame, but it's the
mountings from there to the chair whch will need doing.

Electrics and so forth will be run on a total loss basis with a FOAD
battery in the chair, so no worries there.

Payment in beer, claret, curry or any combination. Anyone?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one boggling at that.

Dear god! Designer of said kit expected wheel to go round
about a dozen times a day and for it to be used 4 times a year.

How many sets of wheel bearings will it take to go to Poland
    and back?

    I think that -
Beamish Suzuki was a production trials bike made
in the UK using Suzi bits by a guy named Beamish.
Maybe just designed by him 'n' made in japland.
Were as I recall not so hot even when new.
Two stroke, maybe 185 or 250.
    Round 1980?

Why don't all you Elefantreffens just buy Reliant Robins and angle grind
    the roof off?

    Get more luggage in.

Kinda - ish. Mr Suzuki made a new trials bike, which was shit so they
couldn't sell any. Mr Beamish modified it a bit, & sold loads. Mr
Suzuki said '**** it, we're crap at this bike building lark, so have
all our stock Mr Beamish & do what you want with them'. And so Mr
Beamish became the manufacturer of Suzuki trials bikes, & also made the
    first production trials outfit.
Somewhat earlier - think they finished production in the early eighties.

Some off-road thing, but I've never been into off-road bikes, let
alone competition ones, so no, I don't.

Um, it's not like there'll be much load on the chair wheel. Will there?

I assume you haven't googled for 'Elefant Rally'.... cooling is the
    least of his problems.

Because it's more fun to take a perfectly serviceable bike and make it
    into a disaster zone.

You're also missing the point in that it's a bike rally and anything
    else can **** off.
I reckon I can get just as much junk into my chair and on the bike as
I'd get in a plastic pig.

    Ignore him, it'll be fine.

Make sure you can strip the chair off in under an hour and if it goes
wrong we'll just remove it then burn it so the enemy don't get their
    hands on it.

Sweller's taking a wanked out old GT750 and Platy keeps threatening to
take his Z200 so you might end up with a passenger in the chair..

True, if you didn't consider turbo charging the plastic pig or adding
    nitro to it.

To be honest I'm disappointed you didn't bolt the sidecar to the 10R.
They've both got three wheels and an engine.

I'm selling it early next year and it's not a disposable item like the
    K100.

Sticking a sidecar on the K100 has become something of a challenge and
once it's done and I've ridden it across Germany in winter I'll
probably become bored with it and sell it.

I doubt if I'll lose anything on the deal because there are always
people who want an outfit and aren't capable of building one for
themself but when you consider that the whole lot owes me about £1500
and I'll lose a lot more than that the moment I ride my next bike away
    from the dealers I don't really give a ****.
