Any body else this bored?

The bloke in the unit next to mine rides a Blackbird and when I asked
him if he was taking advantage of the clement weather he replied that he
didn't get the bike out unless he had ferry tickets booked so he could
go at max speeds on the autobahns as riding here is too boring. He also
said he was looking into a tuning kit (seen fitted to a special at Ally
Pally) to take his bike to over 200bhp.

I'm usually of the opinion that anyone who claims to be in full control
at such speeds is either a liar or a contender for Moto GP.

Anyone else feel the same way as him?

Poodling along at 150mph is kind of the Blackbirds thing...

Only if they've changed the autobahns since last time I was in Germany and
put in a few hairpins and assorted other corners.
Going in a straight line at speed /is/ pretty boring IMHO. Tell this bloke
that he needs to go on some roads with corners, if he thinks he's hard
    enough ;-)

Dunno about that bloke but I've had more fun (on two wheels) at 20 - 60mph
along twisties than I've had (admittedly on four wheels) at 155mph in a
straight line. Though I'll confess that the first time you come around the
last corner before the big ol' straight and floor the bastard is something
of an adrenalin rush! But the novelty wears off pretty quickly - so you
start playing chicken with the brakes / corner at the top :)

So he's a silly person IMO.

he's a straight line merchant by the sound of it. That's not to say
that the quest for more power isn't to be admired.

On the other hand, I don't think I've ever rode my 'blade and thought
"I wish this was a bit faster".

Try it on a slightly rough surface. Maintaining >150 when the bike is
skipping and jumping over the road and you have to fight for breath
because a vacuum seems to exist all around you *is* pretty interesting.

Going fast in a straight line doesn't need the same degree of skill that
cornering does but on real-world A roads it isn't *that* easy and needs
either balls or stupidity. Maybe I'm talking about going too fast for
    the conditions though.

He is in fact a great bloke and a class precision engineer (he has
machined components for Foggy Petronas bikes) but like most of the
replies I think he is missing out on some good fun in the twisties.
    Certainly takes all sorts.
