That's no reason to be supporting the other side though, even it's with some
    ambivalence.

Blimey, that is serious. I can certainly understand an indifference to
patriotism, but to detest it altogether, wow!

I certainly ain't bothered one way or another if we lose our
sovereignty, but what does bother me is how it affects *me*.

OTOH, patriotism is a feeling of 'belonging', and it's good for society
that we have this feeling of unity.

Unless of course you are an anarchist.

Well, that could be part of it - I don't much like/never had the
    "feeling of belonging"
otoh, I don't think I'm an anarchist either.

Normally I'd agree with you. However, on Saturday morning when I
walked past the pub on the way to get a paper (after the result),
there was a bloke passed literally in the gutter being tended by
assorted drunks. Not an edifying spectacle.

Surely that's nothing to do with sport and everything to do with pub
    culture.

    i) The collapsee has the good grace to collapse in a car park, beer
garden or bar and not in a gutter on the way to Champ's paper shop.

ii) The other drunks are too pissed to care about the collapsee

Yes, you're prolly right. The fact that people felt the need to get
lagered up in the pub at 9am in the morning is completely inexplicable
    to me.

  18. *ding* I went off to the shops when the rugby was on. Nice and quiet,
no jams, hardly anyone about. Unfortunately some silly cow of a shop
assistant decided to prance about announcing that we had won. I had
hoped to completely escape the *news* - I can safely say I have not seen
    any footage of the game.

That is I think a legacy of our modern society though. We just don't
seem to have the communities there were a few years ago.
    Hmmm, a pacifist?
