Ford Escorts are popular, but they're still shite.

I asked for AV programme recommendations.
It didn't work on the pooters here.
Point of order dear. The machine I am using isn't fucked up, I simply
decided to check using a different online AV programme whether or not the
attachments were being sorted as they should have been, and they weren't.

I currently use PC-Cillin with the freebie ZA programme. The pooter
downstairs uses AVG with the full ZA programme, and that is the one that
appears to have a nice list of virus attachments. And that isn't the one
    that I use.

Anyway, I've now forked out for a different AV programme to what is
normally recommended, based on the fact that the online scan was
effective. How effective it actually is remains to be seen.

If people could write viruses for cars, don't you think there'd be a
rather more for Escorts and Cavaliars, compared say to Seats and
Volkswagens? And that this would have more to say about the
population of target vehicles than the merits or otherwise of the
    vehicles themselves?

    Popular shite, ok if you insist :=}

Just because something is popular does not mean it is good. How are people
going to react to the new M$ file formats with M$ Word 2003 et all ? Old
versions will not be able to read it. Non M$ apps will not be able to
read, all because they wil be adding encryption/licensing to the format.

Just trying to be open. I won't bang on about any single OS in particular,
those that know me (or read headers) know which I prefer.

I'd bet that they Word 2003 will be able to read older documents, but not
    write them.

In case one of the sprogs opens one of them by accident? [1] Just a
thought like, but kids aren't going to think before they hit the button,
    are they?

Anyway, it is all a moot point now because I have now invested (using
folding money) in an anti-virus programme that appears to work. It's not
one of the ones being bandied about here but as long as it does the job
    that's fine by me.

[1] They look after the dogs sometimes and have access to the pooters
    while they do so.

Responsible parents don't give kids unsupervised access to the Internet.
Particularly when it takes the form of who-knows-what spam, porn, viruses
    and general nastiness.

    Not the same thing.

I get a little tired of those in ukrm with no clue about
parenting telling people that they are bad parents.

You'll notice that the people criticising the most *aren't*
the ones with any experience of parenting. What does that
    tell you?

Reading about one person's view is the same as experiencing,
    I don't think so.
Well what it tells me is that they have an idealised view of
what a parent should be. Probably some sort of deep
childhood longing. They don't, however have any
understanding of how demanding parenting is and that like
any other part of life standards often need to be
    compromised to make life bearable.

    Or something like that anyway.

    I didn't say "weren't parents", I said "without any
experience of parenting". There is a difference.
