Can they do you for other stuff they might happen to notice? Hmm that's
worrying although I'm not sure they would notice the speedo not working.

I've got to strip it down again to sort out the indicators which I broke
trying to fix the speedo :).... no I didn't fix the speedo either, it
works if you are absolutely caning it and interestingly the trip clock
has gone up 2.1 miles in the past 3 weeks :).

I'm going to have another fettle at the weekend and see if I can sort it
all out. The ballache is when it works until you put the fairing panel
    back on :)

Providing it's an Akrapovic or a similar designer name, there are no
    exceptions.

B..b..but, I've only got a stock can, and I always thought I was a Power
Ranger :-( I do have nice blue Alpinestars leathers, does that count?

    I meant:

    "What's that really loud noise? Ah, it's a bike doing 190mph! Let's
    nick him quick!".
Not if you're stationary and the bike is off :)
    Keeps the mileage down :)

I'm going into Warwick on the bike this Wednesday, and probably to the
Waterman on the way home. The standard can just went back on as ISTR
that's where Daz got done last year.

Got stopped near Newcastle Co.Down a couple of weeks back by the Police
Service of N.Ireland traffic branch who were having a "Bikesafe" initiative.
They were checking insurance and licence details as apparently a high
percentage of motorcycle deaths over here involve riders with neither! The
plod explained that they weren't out to hassle anyone and had a smile on his
face as he explained they were not interested in race cans, small plates or
dark visors <phew> Thats a good job then officer I remark.

And fair play to the traffic branch policing this years Northwest 200.
Usually they are busy booking all and sundry, this year they placed
themslves at several dangerous junctions with beacons ablaze. Only seen a
couple of cages getting booked this time.

Yeah just head over and text me if needed. I think Mike Buckley will be
there too, on his RD.. Plan will change if it rains as I've got a
meeting it wouldn't be good to sit through feeling soggy in the
morning.. and *shudder* a meeting with some Americans in the afternoon.

Do they? I hadn't heard anything about emissions testing for bikes.

Okay, maybe I'm being very thick and mega-whoosed here, but if bikes don't
have emissions limits why did the Fazor get canned, why did the CB500 get
canned, why are two strokes suffering, why does everything have injectors,
why are manufacturers going to the trouble of putting in catalysers on their
    bikes?

There are emisions regulations for new bikes, but no emissions tests
form a part of the bike MOT. With cars they test the exhaust gasses as
a part of the MOT test.

This is why for example you can buy a used 2 stroke Aprillia RS250, but
    not a new one.

    dwb says...
Emissions tests do not form a part of the MOT test and neither does a
ZRX *need* a catalyst to pass any other tests in place at the moment.
IIRC emissions tests for new bikes to be homologated for sale in Europe
are planned for the future, but none are currently in place now.

    I forgot...

....don't speed at all. There will be shedloads of police attention
around there tonight, all the way down the 41 from Solihull.
Especially after the crash at Bassetts Pole last night.

Okay. Will you be staying for a bit as I might not get there til about
8ish. Depends how quick I get back home from work.
Ta. I'll be coming down from the A452 but it's the same road. I used to
use it as a shortcut to the M40.
Noted. I'll take of the dark visor as well, no need to give them any
    excuses is there.

    Hopefully see you there then!
