It was a BMW, what's the betting it had a machine failure resulting in a
    crash?

No, it'll be human error. I mean, the bloke had a history of ****-ups,
    right?

He bought a BMW for a start...

Wonder how many kids were killed in Cage accidents or on bicycles this month
    across the UK.

It's been reported quite strangely on the local news in that the police
complaints authority is investigating due to the proximity of a police
    vehicle.

There is a theory that he was 'evading' the police and the crash was as a
result of this. Unfortunately the bloke in question is in hospital and the
13yr old would require outside assistance to answer any queries.

They can change the law all they want though - it won't make people follow
it. Most of the kids round near me ride around without helmets on. I
honestly thought I was going to have to spend more time talking to the Plod
the other day when one chap on a scooter avoided ramming an artic by an
inch. I guess he obviously knew exactly what he was doing ;)

You could write to Lembit Opik.

Then again you could do **** all 'cos it's not as if it's an important
    issue.

    <Shudders>

I was a techie with P&G when Opik worked there and I can safely say he was
    an unmitigated tosser.

The occasion that sticks in my mind was when he called in an urgent job and
got me to rush across to his office because he was late for a flight and
needed his "problem" sorting before he could leave.

He'd left it until the last minute to print out a important, large document
to his local printer from his lap-top. So he'd pressed "Print" in Word and
then, before it had finished spooling, he'd unplugged the parallel cable and
    turned off his lap-top.

He spent about 5 minutes yelling at me because I "didn't know" how to make
the document print without him turning his lap-top back on, which he didn't
    have time for, apparently.

    Tosser.

Look, ****, when there's a large asteroid about to take out Civilisation
As We Know It, these important bods don't have time to **** around with
    your footling techie excuses.

Just fucking sort it, or there'll be trouble, understand?

The statement I heard from the DTp was that they saw no need to make any
change to the law and had no intention to do so. This is just an MP
trying to get a bit of publicity and it'll come to nothing.

Aye. And a pretty shit one at that.

They're currently attempting to weasel out of a travel insurance claim
made by my ShiteOldDad, using some unrelated surgery from twelve years
    ago as an excuse.

Indeed, my very first job was working for a life assurance company that AXA
    absorbed (some years later).

Crap job, crap wages, crap company.

Crap industry really, glad I got out of it.

Fucking hyenas of the popular press, innit? Bereft of any ideas of their
own they delight in stoking the fires of indignation; on a normal day or
week there's probably a pillion killed somewhere in the country and only
    gets local rag mention.
Some utter wanker at the beeb has decided dying pillions is 'newsworthy'
this week. The shallow, talentless, parasitic, pathetic, sad ****.

In the UK 2 pillions under 16 died in 2003, so it appears to be a bit of a
    runaway problem :-(

As the man said, nowt will come of it, i just hate the git.

It does look at though he might not have voted in a Private Members Bill a
few months ago that would've forced kiddies to wear cycle helmets, and
actually made a difference. The turn out for that one was a whopping 29 MPs.

Presumably the others were at a directorship fest or something...(and yes i
know it was back to school day or some such shat)

    Apropos nothing,

There was a picture of Ted Heath in the paper this morning.
He famously said that all bikers are filthy dangerous scum
and should be banned, or some such rubbish.
Anyone in Salisbury want to ride round the cathedral close
    to reinforce his stereotypes?

As for pillions, I saw one yesterday on a high-speed-lane-splitting
gixxer yesterday in tee shirt, shorts and trainers.
Maybe he was a Merkan. They have the right to bare arms.
