Saw a sad sight on my way home along the Princes this arvo about 1:15pm.
Just after the Koroit Creek Rd overpass on the Princess Fwy just before
Laverton (Vic)there was a rider down,The Rd veres left a little & it
looks like the bike (Yellow Sportsbike, To damaged to identify) & rider
slid through the wirerope barrier, When I was going past, the Police
were taking messurements & marking the Rd & the Ambo was slowly driving
away without its lights on, Am I to understand the lack of lights on in
no rush to be a bad sign?
Lets hope it's no-one we know.
Condolinces to the riders family if it's the Worst, Good luck & a quick
    recovery if it isn't.

I think it sounds like it could be the worst case scenario however sometimes
if there are serious spinal injuries or something similar where it would be
critical for the ambulance to drive in emergency mode, then it'd be pointles
for it to have sirens and lights on at 20kph.

Ambo's will try not to have their lights and sirens going, for fear of upsetting the patient, who may take it as a sign they're in a
    bad way.

If they urgently need to get the patient to a hospital they will use the lights and sirens at intersections and congested areas.

And going slowly would reduce the risk of bouncing the patient, and the other medic , around in the back. Last thing you need when
administering drugs, etc, is to be jolted about.

All true. Ambulances usually have lights and sirens going on the way to the
incident. Not on the way back.

If someone is dead, they won't be put into an ambulance. The coroner
arranges the transport of the body.
