One weeks notice was what I got with my wage slip this week. 17
installers and 4 surveyors laid off.

2010 has started off really shit so far, it had better pick up.

I know it sounds quite hollow, but given whats happened to me, Jane &
Amy over the last two years & how things have picked up recently, it
will pick up & you'll look back & not give it a second thought.

Keep yer chin up & good luck mate.

Have a pint of black Russian tonight and let off some steam and then
get job hunting tomorrow. Been there mate it feels like the end of the
world but there is stuff out there.

Building trades are always paid weekly, and that's what I work(ed) in.

  12. Tough break.
At least you got some notice and didn't just turn up to find the doors
    locked and the furniture gone.
    It will, it will.
Given the expertise you've amassed in this most recent operation, can
you not strike out on your own? I don't mean necessarily putting the
stuff in, there's monkeys for that, but being a consultant wivva cert
    and everyting.

I'm wondering what employer would take me on knowing that I'm going to
be out of action fairly soon when I have this kidney op. I'm not
holding out much hope for the near future tbh

Crap news, but it's only a Lozzo.

OTOH it makes a change for you to be given notice rather than shouting at the
boss to go **** himself isn't it? :)

My start for 2010 was fucked too when a contract fell over and I was
    basically unemployed since Xmas.
I've gone totally out of frying pan into the fire. Just spent my first
two days after moving to Sydney having to get my head around managing
the roll-out of VOIP to every Westpac bank branch in Australia. All
the branch phones, all the ATMs, all the security phones, etc. Fark.
Never worked for a bank before. These guys speak a foreign language
that I am going to have to pick up real damn quick . . .

There's 10,000 of us working within 5 blocks of the CBD let alone the
rest of the country, my head is spinning, gunna have a quiet weekend I
    think.

Bah, crap luck. Unfortunately all the Germans inquiring about the cars
and bike(s) I'm selling want to pick them up themselves rather than
    having them delivered...
