Apparently my 10R now has a pair of shiny new Dunlop Qualifier RR
tyres on it so I'll be giving them a thorough test over the mountain
    in a couple of weeks.

Has anyone here used them and are they any good? They were recommended
by the guys where we get our tyres and they're normally spot on with
what they suggest so I'm feeling quite happy about giving the bike
    hell when I'm on holiday.

I'm not interested in how the standard Qualifiers perform btw, it'd be
like comparing the standard 207 with the 207RR and we know how similar
    they were don't we?

mattG just got some and rates them so far.

I think I need to go see the tyre men in the next few weeks,as the
middle of my rear qualifier is almost down to the wear indicators, so
it'd probably wear out on the island.

I should probably stick with a normal rear qualifier and match the
front, as I suspect the centres of the RR's are no harder than the
centre of the qualifiers, and I don't need softer rubber because I'm
    crap.

It's quite reassuring for me to see that 2002 bikes are going for up
around the £4k mark because I really don't know what my 10R would be
worth if I decided to change it for something different.

Various dealers have told me that the C1 & C2 model 10R is going to be
a classic and I should hang onto it for a couple more years but with
the full Akro system, steering damper, Brembo master cylinder and
PCIII it's got to be worth over £5k at the moment.

The biggest problem I've got is that the only litre bike I'd change
the 10R for is an MV F41000 and I'm not convinced by it's luggage
    carrying capability.

It could be, but no, all quiet on the south-western front. Or to put
it another way he showed up, said how many wonderful things were going
to happen now, and nobody has seen or heard from him since then.

    Hooray.

Danny just sold his 2004 ZX10R C1, battered, raced from new, no V5,
with a recorded 6K miles that were all done on track flat out - he got
4500 quid for it. He threw the spare wheels with half worn wets and
    discs in with the deal.

Engine-wise it was standard, but had a PC111 and alloy bellmouths with
    an MHP full system.

It's also pushing up the cost of new bikes though, so next summer
might see some improvement in second hand values.

He was asking 5250 at the beginning of the season, and actually had
    some interest

What sold it was taking it out at the last meeting with the buyer
watching it get a 4th, a 3rd, a 2nd and then being put in the van
before he pushed his luck going for the win. In 2 1/2 years of me
spannering that bike we only ever left one meeting without a trophy on
the dash - that was when Danny crashed heavily twice at the pathetic
    BSB chicane at Gerards.

That's about what I'd have expected one to fetch. The guy I bought my
sidecar from was talking about buying one of the latest ones but said
the only thing stopping him was that he expected to find it a bit tame
after the first model. He'd had one like Ginge's and ended up breaking
it for spares because he hated the handling and couldn't sell it as a
    complete bike

The bloke was a complete loon, he'd got a 1000 mile KTM RC8 that had
done half the miles on race tracks, a KTM SuperDuke that he'd raced
for a season and had just sold a gixxer thou superstocker because it
didn't make him laugh as much as the KTM did when he was racing it.

He seemed convinced that early 10Rs went out of showrooms within days
and that a 'sorted one' like mine would be snatched away if I was
willing to take a fraction under £5k or a bit over if I put the bigger
airbox on it and shoved it on a dyno. It's all irrelevant though
because even though I could afford an MV (1) I'm not fed up with the
    10R yet.

    (1) 90 hour weeks on nightshift pay quite well.

Did Slick sell you all the spares with it or did he hang onto them?
I'm thinking brake pads and an air filter if there was a spare one..

    Hey! HEY!!

What happened to "I never wash bikes"?
What happened to "A bike's just a piece of metal to me, I just replace
    them when they're done"?
    What happened to
    <goesallshufflyandmumblywhenhehasto"confess"hewantsitnicefortheisland> ?

You, sir, are a closet OCD type!!
