  1. Morgan Hill motorcycle accident leaves 1 dead
    By the Mercury News

A 43-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene near a Morgan
Hill intersection Saturday after colliding with another motorcycle at high
    speed, police said.

Gregory Willson, of Morgan Hill, died of massive injuries after his
motorcycle collided with the cycle driven by Robert Haygood, 36, of San
Martin, near the intersection of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Native Dancer
Drive. Haygood suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the
    scene.

Paramedics found Willson unconscious and without a pulse and attempts to
revive him at the scene failed. Morgan Hill police said preliminary
investigation showed excessive speed was likely a factor in the 3:20 p.m.
    accident, which remains under investigation.

Here's more from the Morgan Hill Times:

Presumably, the word "tandem" was misused to mean side-by-side, and the
victim's last name is spelled differently than in the Mercury News.
Also, I found odd the description of the his state: "unconscious, not
breathing and without a pulse". In the vernacular, dead.

Rest in peace, Gregory Wilson (or Willson).

  3. and, the description does explain a lot that the Murky's "collided" left
    unanswered....

Based on preliminary investigation, Sampson said, the men were
riding in tandem when Haygood started to veer towards Wilson. As
Wilson attempted to swerve away from Haygood’s motorcycle, he went
up onto the curb and was thrown into tree. Both drivers were
wearing helmets. Sampson said Monday that excessive speed was
probably a factor in the accident.

Haygood was charged with driving on a suspended license.
Toxicology reports are pending, and the investigation is ongoing.

The rest of the article was very enlightening. It showed what I've read
here before about UNLICENED drivers or drivers w/ SUSPENDED licences. They
were either DUI or there prior convictions were for DUI's. This state is a
joke as far as enforcement is concerned. OH! some of them did not have
insurance. 40% of the drivers in this state are uninsured. That is why we
are paying high insurance prices, we have to pay for all the dead beats.
There should be a way to go after them, either revoke their licence or
impound their vehicles. Better up your uninsured motorist insurance!!

In Germany your insurance is registered with the equivalent of the
DMV. The day it lapses (or rather is cancelled, as in Germany you have
a contract that continues until it is cancelled by either you or the
insurer) the DMV is notified and the police comes to your house to
invalidate your license plates. If you are not there your vehicle is put
    on the wanted list.

If they did the same thing here, insurance premiums would go down
    drastically.

I went to the DMV today to get 'tabs for my G4TR and they asked for
    proof of insurance.

As an aside, insurance on this Kawasaki is only a buck a year yet the
    tabs were $42.00-for a 1970 model!

It wouldn't be that difficult. To get plates, you show insurance.
The DMV gives stickers that expire when the insurance does. If the
insurance company writes a policy that extends beyond what has been
prepaid, they can get a lien for the rest -- they'll be the ones
repossessing the cars, not the cops.
