Joe and I just got back from the scene of an accident. It wasn't just any
accident. Heard on the scanner that one of our own was down, so we stopped
what we were doing and rushed out there. Our club's Sgt. at Arms and one of
our best friends, was riding to work this evening... and hit a deer. He was
careflighted to a hosp. in Abilene. I don't know the full extent of his
injuries at this time but he did manage to push the Harley off of himself
and walk from the barditch, to the road. All I know right now is that he is
alive and was complaining of arm and back pain, plus a gash on the back of
    his head.

I've said this before and I am saying it again, please be careful y'all.
Deer are everywhere and they can change your life forever, in an instant.
It doesn't matter whether you are a newbie or a seasoned rider, deer do not
    descriminate.

    I really hate deer.

    Stay safe, all.

I think we are all growing to hate them Sunny.

Good news your friend was able to walk away. My thoughts and prayers
are for a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks, Don. I just got a call. Donnie has a broken collarbone, road rash
and they were getting ready to x-ray his hand. They had already checked out
his back and internal organs. All ok, just severely bruised. They didn't
mention his head but I am sure he will get an MRI (due to the gash), even
though he never lost consciousness and is coherent. That is a good sign. I
don't know how long he will be in the hospital but they may send him home
soon. He is an ornery cuss. They don't call him "Mad Dog", for nothing!
    :)

On a side note, his son-in-law rode the Harley home. It's as tough as
    Donnie is.

    The deer died.

    Thanks again, Don.
There'll be an update on his condition, right after this post.
Yep, it is. But the bike is going to need some work and I figure that will
give Donnie time to heal, while he's fixing up his ride.
    One down, millions to go.
