This morning, we were headed for the Texas Veterans Association (MC) Toy
Run. First of all, we had to take the cage to the VFW, to drop off the 4
large pans of cornbread that I made, to go along with the Chili & Beans that
Steve (a.k.a. Buzzard) had made. And with the toys we were giving, plus
some I had collected from other folks, there wasn't any room on the bikes.
We visited a bit, then came back to the house, got our bikes and rode back
to the VFW. It was a tad cool but pleasant enough. After a bowl of chili,
beans and cornbread, we got ready to ride. It was 2PM.

We rode our bikes through town, to WalMart on the west end of Breckenridge,
with Doug in his Marines uniform, leading the way, along with our Chapter's
President, David. Next was Santa (Donnie) riding in the back of a pickup,
which was loaded down with toys and brand new bicycles, for the boys and
girls. Steve was next, then Joe, then me. Next to and behind me, a whole
string of bikes and trikes, too many to name them all.

We stopped in at Potter's, to pick up more toys, then it was a short ride to
WalMart, where Santa sat on a trike and had his picture taken with lots of
little boys and girls, each child getting a candy and their mommies getting
the photos. :) Doug in his dress uniform, collected donations and toys for
the kids, while Steve had me selling more raffle tickets. How do I get
roped into these things... hahaha (or is that ho,ho,ho). I didn't mind.

Joe wasn't doing anything but enjoying doing nothing, so I handed the
remaining tickets to him, to sell, while I got a soda and mingled a bit, all
20 minutes worth. Doug had his camera, so I took some pics of our group,
    Santa and the kids.

At about 4PM, we loaded up and took the collected toys to the Fire Station,
where they will be wrapped and made ready for the kiddos, this Christmas.
We then rode back to the VFW, where we ate more Chili & Beans and held the
raffle drawings. Out of 14 drawings, 12 people won $50, 2 won twice and one
    lucky person won $500.

We had a short meeting, discussing next weekend's charity project and our
next meeting date. It was starting to get dark, Joe had to get home to get
some shuteye before going to work at 11PM, so we said our good-byes, rode
off and got home right before "dark thirty".

It was a great day. Good friends, good food, charitable souls and a good
haul for the young ones in need. The sun was warm and considering how cold
it has been, that 56 degrees felt wonderful. My leathers kept me warm and
comfy and though short, the ride was really nice. I hope it's like this
next weekend, when we head for Albany and the Boys Ranch.

Ride safe all, and Merry Christmas.

Sounds like a fine day Sunny and I agree with you. After a cold spell
