Kate Middleton is the first person to squeeze into Diana's ring since
    Dodi Fayed.

And at least it isn't a ludicrous leftover Harry Potter set with an
internal structure that formalises all the worst aspects of our
    parliamentary system.

No, but if you worked in obstetrics and gynaecology...

Some of my favourite beer festivals are in ludicrous leftover Harry
    Potter sets!

Sure, but they have an internal structure that formalises all that's
best about drinking beer and having a piss.

    Different kettle of fish, innit.

It doesn't feel like history if you live through it. The peanut farmer
could at least compose an intelligent sentence on his own. Reagan was
    just an embarrassingly bad actor.

So the lefties here think that all Democrat presidents were saints
and the Republicans were corrupt idiots. And the sensible ones here
    disagree....

Funny isn't it. Did you listen to the Moral Maze on R4 last night. It made
me lauch not a little. Sactimonious cunts trying to justify violent disorder
for Leftie Commandments while dodging it for anything they didn't like.
Slow burning over a nice greenwood fire for the lot of 'em.

It's hard to call Clinton a saint when he was caught with his pants
down with an ugly bimbo. Politically, his worst gaffe, I think, was to
    ignore the disaster in Rwanda.
And certainly Nixon wasn't an idiot, though as corrupt as they come.
My take on American political parties is that the Democrats are
incompetent, but the Republicans are evil.

I have a cousin who was a chief highway engineer for CalTrans when
Ronnie was governor. He made presentations to Reagan on projects and
plans. He says the man was an absolute moron, incapable of
comprehending issues. My cousin left to manage projects in Saudi
Arabia and East Timor, so he's fairly skillful in communicating with
    politicians and the language impaired.

That idiot took the World closer to extinction than anyone I can
remember. This is the twat that joked about nuking Russia because he
    knew no better.

That was JFK. Ronnie was so pleasant and harmless the Cold War ended.

Hmm. Not entirely convinced. But then my knowledge of the era mostly
comes from watching Thirteen Days so I'm open to correction.

Am I mistaken in thinking that Reagan upped the stakes by putting
Cruise & Pershing missiles into Europe? He also deployed additional
'first strike' weapons that made the Soviet Bloc more than slightly
    anxious about their future.
